  • older beach home on a quiet street

"our group enjoyed being on the bay side during 2016 bike week(end), away from the rush and noise but close to the attractions! short walk to the beach/boardwalk, convenience store around the corner that sells hot food and alcohol. the house could use some updating but it serves a great purpose for a large group!! definitely enjoyed having two bathrooms. we hope to be back next year"

  • Lovely, comfortable, and convenient; a wonderful stay.

"We really enjoyed our stay in Harpers Ferry at this vacation rental. Our family of five fit comfortably and it was conveniently located in relation to the town, grocery stores, the historical sites, and trails. This place really met all of our needs. Highly recommend."

  • Nice bedroom & bathroom in a quiet clean home, 10 mins from the USNA. Friendly family.

"We were looking for a nice place to stay not too far from the Naval Academy. Jean & Joe provided it! Clean, quiet, comfortable and affordable. Room includes mini-fridge, toaster oven, coffee maker, wine fridge, fan, hair dryer, comfortable bed, TV. Jean and Joe live in the home, but we hardly saw them. Very nice people that communicated promptly with us and made us very welcome in their home."

  • Lovely place but a couple things to know

"We stayed here for a few days to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. There were eight of us and it accommodated us well, in terms of space. We had a great time. The house is really nice and the view is really beautiful. We spent a ton of time sitting on the enclosed back porch or in the adirondack chairs outside watching boat traffic and the weather. We did a bit of fishing off the pier and it was cool to watch the eagles landing on the nest at the house two doors down. Overall it was a great trip and a very nice house. There are a couple things to know about this property. There is a very odd thing about this house where two of the bedrooms have these "windows" with no glass overlooking the entry hall. So they are openings in the walls. Since the main floor is an open layout, if anyone is talking anywhere on the main floor or doing anything in the kitchen, you'll hear it in either of these bedrooms. So basically you won't be sleeping if you're in one of those two rooms and people are up later in the evening or earlier the morning. It's weird and they should close off those windows. The kitchen is stocked ok but missing a few really key items like a colander and frying pans (there's one small frying pan and that's it). Finally, while the exhaustive contract you have to sign in advance (I've rented dozens of houses like this from VRBO and never seen a rental contract like this, it's like the kind you sign to rent the house you live in) says you'll get your deposit back in three days, it seems maybe you won't get it at all unless you ask for it. I asked about it after four days and didn't get a reply until nearly two weeks after we left the house and she issued it then. That's very lame. In our case, it was a huge deposit -- it was $800 for the house plus a $250 pet deposit. It felt dishonest that it took so long for them to return the deposit and then only because I asked about it."
