  • Comfortable and well equipped

"We had the pleasure of spending an extended stay at Morewood this winter. If you go to the Home and Garden site, you will see a video that describes the property better than we can. The place was "as advertised" in the video. Everything functioned perfectly, the location is private, convenient and safe. The place was clean when we arrived. The kitchen was especially important to us since we cooked in most of the time. We found it well equipped and easy to work in, and the appliances are up to date and work fine. The modern bathroom lacks a tub, but the walk in shower is very spacious and the water pressure and hot water are quite adequate. We found it helpful that the linens and towels were provided as well as soap, a hair dryer, etc. A washer and dryer are also provided and they work well. Heat is provided by a gas faux wood stove that keeps the place comfortable when it is cold out. Guests leave essentials like dish detergent, laundry detergent, sugar, salt, food wraps, some herbs, etc which is convenient especially for shorter stays. Mr. Clydesdale is readily accessible by phone and email in case you need his assistance, and he is a pleasure to deal with. Pittsfield itself is not a vacation destination, of course, but it is convenient to the Berkshire attractions. One possible drawback for some guests may be that the main bedroom area is upstairs in a loft. If you don't like the idea of going up and down stairs in the middle of the night, you can use the very comfortable convertible sofa in the main room that has a good air mattress that's easy to use. We are planning to return to Morewood and encourage anyone who is looking for a home away from home experience in the Berkshires to consider staying there."

  • Relaxing trip to the Berkshires

"The cottage, landscape and location were all great. The cottage itself was very clean and had all the amenities you would need for a short or long stay; including an extremely comfortable bed. The landscape was well-kept, private and the gazebo on the pond was a great relaxation spot. It is driving distance to several state parks and hiking spots along with restaurants & shops in beautiful Western MA towns like Stockbridge. Beth was a courteous hostess, responsive and available to answer any questions or give recommendations. Absolutely worth another stay."

  • Excellent "Bachelorette" stay!

"We booked this house for a girls weekend to celebrate our friends upcoming wedding. The house was adorable and had everything we needed. It was so nice and refreshing to be away from everything! The river in the backyard was such a treat. If it hadn't rained we might have spent the whole weekend in it! Highly recommended for a getaway in nature."

  • Peaceful

"We spent a week here with our son, daughter-in-law and twin 7-year old grandsons. The house is clean, well cared-for and comfortable. Lots of windows with good ventilation and natural light. The front porch has a nice roof overhang that makes it a great place for al fresco meals or games or hanging out in wet weather. Beds are comfy. Having 2 bathrooms is a plus with that many people in the house. Bring your own body wash and shampoo. Kitchen is in good shape, with a fridge, range, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and Mr. Coffee that takes ground coffee. (Don't expect to use your K-cups.) Washer and dryer in the basement. There is a TV and a satellite dish, but there was no signal while we were there. As a backup, there are a ton of DVDs for movies. Lake Garfield is beautiful. Not very deep. Has a fair amount of bottom vegetation - but pretty good fishing and wonderful for boating - kayaks to powerboats. In front of this property, the lake is shallow and doesn't lend itself to diving or jumping off the dock. But the dock is a great place to sit and enjoy morning coffee. There are two canoes and, I think, 3 kayaks. (We brought our own kayaks.) There's also a small aluminum rowboat that would be a good fishing platform. There is a nice 4 burner gas grill and a firepit. Make sure to pick up dry firewood at the Monterey General Store downtown on the way to the place. DO NOT BRING FIREWOOD FROM OUT OF STATE. Massachusetts does not want you to accidentally import the invasive Emerald Ash Borer with firewood you bring from home! I'm told AT&T phones work OK here. We have Verizon. Service at 1 bar is sporadic - and forget about 4G ... BUT isn't that why you go on vacation? to get AWAY from the darned thing?"
