  • Comfortable and well equipped

"We had the pleasure of spending an extended stay at Morewood this winter. If you go to the Home and Garden site, you will see a video that describes the property better than we can. The place was "as advertised" in the video. Everything functioned perfectly, the location is private, convenient and safe. The place was clean when we arrived. The kitchen was especially important to us since we cooked in most of the time. We found it well equipped and easy to work in, and the appliances are up to date and work fine. The modern bathroom lacks a tub, but the walk in shower is very spacious and the water pressure and hot water are quite adequate. We found it helpful that the linens and towels were provided as well as soap, a hair dryer, etc. A washer and dryer are also provided and they work well. Heat is provided by a gas faux wood stove that keeps the place comfortable when it is cold out. Guests leave essentials like dish detergent, laundry detergent, sugar, salt, food wraps, some herbs, etc which is convenient especially for shorter stays. Mr. Clydesdale is readily accessible by phone and email in case you need his assistance, and he is a pleasure to deal with. Pittsfield itself is not a vacation destination, of course, but it is convenient to the Berkshire attractions. One possible drawback for some guests may be that the main bedroom area is upstairs in a loft. If you don't like the idea of going up and down stairs in the middle of the night, you can use the very comfortable convertible sofa in the main room that has a good air mattress that's easy to use. We are planning to return to Morewood and encourage anyone who is looking for a home away from home experience in the Berkshires to consider staying there."

  • Great spot in the Berkshires

"We stayed as 3 families- 6 Adults, 6 teenagers to visit Tanglewood. There were minimum stay restrictions that were a challenge for us, but the owner was very accommodating and went out of her way to arrange it so we could stay at this property. The house is exactly as described- spacious with lots of beds. We originally had another family that planned to stay, and we could have easily fit a few more people. The great room with pool table was a great spot to hang out as a group- kitchen for drinks and snacks, big TV to watch or play games, and the pool table itself was awesome. It kept the kids very entertained. Hot tub was nice, although we were novices and did not see the instructions. It was bit tricky to start and stop. We used it quite a bit anyway. It has all of the appliances, cookware, and cooking space needed for a large group. Everything was up to date and clean. It is in a quiet neighborhood, and I think you'd need to drive to any attractions. We did a bit of walking but didn't find the lake beaches. I am sure if we tried harder we would have found them. It is very central to everything the Berkshires offers. An excellent base of operations! Everyone in our group loved the place and would recommend it. We hope to be back again next year."

  • Peaceful and inspiring

"I came to visit with my daughter who lives nearby. I am an artist and my main inspiration comes from the sights and sounds found in nature. I am a city dweller because it is convenient for me as I am nearing my twilight years. I found the cabin in the woods restful and cozy. My daughter and I spent time together talking in the open space and sunlight of the main living area. I also spent time alone, walking the property and sketching the woods and the stream near by. I recommend this property as a get away and a place to contemplate and rejuvenate. Ellen Mills Providence, Rhode Island"

  • Louisa May Alcott on the Porch, Emeril in the kitchen

"My husband and I have spent the best 4 weeks of the year the last 5 summers in this magnificent house. Although I live in a contemporary ranch home, being surrounded by antiques, a two hundred year old family portrait and a Steinway parlor grand piano makes me feel quite at home and the owner more like family. As a cookbook author, the updated country kitchen with Viking stove and Bosch appliances not to mention every small appliance I need to cook, bake and even make ice cream is an addition that makes living there so wonderful. But what sold me on the property 6 years ago was the hammock looking at the vast green garden with flowers and herbs and an occasional early morning or evening deer. The photo of the yard is my screensaver! If you like music, the arts and want to escape the pressures of everyday life, especially in the city, this is THE place for you...just don't book my four weeks !!!"
