  • Perfect for a Big Family with Little Kids

"What a beautiful and perfect spot for a week's vacation with the family. We had 10 adults and 5 kids (4 under 5 years old), and the house held us wonderfully. The bedroom setup worked out great with enough beds (+1 pull-out couch) for the grownups (5 couples) and a couple with enough room for pack n plays, a bunk room that 2 4-year-olds shared and could've been used for 4 kids had they been older, and even a cool nook of a room with two built-in twins that was perfect for a 13-year-old girl to escape the rest of our craziness. The common spaces had plenty of seating for both hanging out and eating together, and the kitchen was well stocked with all the cookware and dishes we needed. There are 3 separate TVs, so plenty of ways to split up different tastes, although we never had to use them. And I have to mention the very new looking and huge washer and dryer as they were very useful to have. The property itself is amazing. The huge, flat yard between the house and the lake was just perfect for lots of running around and playing games. The small beach was great for the kids and has a nice gentle slope into the water. The kids loved jumping off the small dock, and we made frequent use of the kayaks and canoe for paddling around and even a little fishing. This particular area of the lake was particularly quiet and calm. There's a peninsula on one side offering lots of protection and the entire opposite coastline belongs to a park and a health center, so it's all trees with no development. If you're looking for an easy lake vacation with family and friends, you'd be hard pressed to find something better."

  • Charming, private, and secluded getaway

"This home is charming and secluded, yet convenient to all of the Berkshire attractions—Hancock Shaker Village, Tanglewood, Jiminy Peak, etc. The home is well-kept and the perfect location for star-gazing late at night. Other reviewers have mentioned the post and beam construction means sound carries throughout the house, so that's something to be aware of. The owner is attentive and helpful and (even though she was away on her own vacation) managed to get us a replacement coffee maker within 24 hours when the one in the house stopped working. Thanks for a lovely week!"

  • Wonderful stay, wonderful converted school house

"Just returned from a 4 night stay at this historic school house. What was most impressive was the amount of space in the kitchen/great room area. We were able to spread out our gear without feeling in any way cluttered. The loft was small but comfortable, and even in the midst of Summer the window and floor fan worked like a charm, keeping the whole house cool. While the arial view of the property makes it seem like the house is near to a busy road, it is, but we couldn't hear anything at night (and we are sticklers for wanting no traffic noise when we are away). A great stay and we will be back!"

  • College Roommates

"My college roommates & I get together 1x/year & this year we wanted to stay near the Clark Art Institute. This house was perfect for our get together! Carol was easy to work with & very responsive to emails. Mid October is a wonderful time to visit the Berkshires - the colors were amazing! A bit too cold to enjoy the water but the scenery from the dock was lovely. The house was cozy, warm, spacious, very comfortable & very clean. The living room with the glass walls was lovely & we enjoyed feeling like we were surrounded by nature. Although, the house isn't lake front - you could see a bit a of the lake from the living room. We enjoyed using the well equipped kitchen & sleeping on such comfortable beds. Many wonderful towns/activities were close by. Not having WiFi made it a little more challenging to make plans but we managed to figure out where we wanted to go without it:)! Would definitely stay here again!"
