  • Perfect for a Big Family with Little Kids

"What a beautiful and perfect spot for a week's vacation with the family. We had 10 adults and 5 kids (4 under 5 years old), and the house held us wonderfully. The bedroom setup worked out great with enough beds (+1 pull-out couch) for the grownups (5 couples) and a couple with enough room for pack n plays, a bunk room that 2 4-year-olds shared and could've been used for 4 kids had they been older, and even a cool nook of a room with two built-in twins that was perfect for a 13-year-old girl to escape the rest of our craziness. The common spaces had plenty of seating for both hanging out and eating together, and the kitchen was well stocked with all the cookware and dishes we needed. There are 3 separate TVs, so plenty of ways to split up different tastes, although we never had to use them. And I have to mention the very new looking and huge washer and dryer as they were very useful to have. The property itself is amazing. The huge, flat yard between the house and the lake was just perfect for lots of running around and playing games. The small beach was great for the kids and has a nice gentle slope into the water. The kids loved jumping off the small dock, and we made frequent use of the kayaks and canoe for paddling around and even a little fishing. This particular area of the lake was particularly quiet and calm. There's a peninsula on one side offering lots of protection and the entire opposite coastline belongs to a park and a health center, so it's all trees with no development. If you're looking for an easy lake vacation with family and friends, you'd be hard pressed to find something better."

  • Lovely little intimate getaway spot!

"My wife and I escaped to the schoolhouse after the holidays to celebrate the New Year with our little pup and we found it delightful. It's one main space with an open loft for the bedroom which is both cozy and intimate but also doesn't feel like you're right on top of each other which was perfect. Besides a few challenges with a few of the appliances... (washing machine was out of order and the dishwasher was too smart for its own good and would start up on its own) this was a great spot and my wife and I definitely plan to come back at some point in the future!"

  • Lovely home in a great location

"The house was very cozy and had plenty of room for our family of 8. I think it is nicer than the pictures online. The three full baths were really nice and no one had to wait for the shower when we were getting ready to go out. We were able to walk into town and to the lake and it was very close to Butternut for skiing. We wished that we had brought our ice skates because people were skating on the lake. The owners were lovely and provided A LOT of information about the house when we arrived which was a little overwhelming. We had never rented a house that was the primary residence of the owner before but once we got used to the idea it turned out great."

  • Great place to entertain

"Comfortable, spacious, clean, great location! We loved the house as did our visiting family. Minutes to Butternut and downtown Great Barrington. Perfect getaway from the city."
