"What a fabulous house! It's on a quiet street south of Rt. 28, the first street past the Chatham border, so it's easy to get too. The house is quite roomy, a big living room, a den, dining room, good kitchen, very nice family room with lots of nautical charm, 2 bedrooms upstairs in the original part of the house, and two bedrooms over the garage. Plus the den can be used as a bedroom because there is a comfortable pullout couch. Great small grill in the back. Best part of the house for me was it's location. It's about a mile to a wonderful Nantucket Sound beach, Red River Beach. You can walk or ride a bike (about 1/10 of a mile is on Rt. 28). Or you could drive about 10-12 minutes to get to some fresh water ponds (Seymour or Long Pond, both of which are partially in Harwich). Or you could drive about 15 minutes to a spectacular ocean beach in Orleans, Nauset Beach. It was all so easy! About 1/2 mile from the house is an entrance to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, in fact I used it to ride to Nauset Beach. As to shopping, downtown Harwichport is a 5 minute drive, and charming downtown Chatham is a 10 minute drive. Then there's a big Stop & Shop on Rt 137, a 7 to 10 minute drive. The house is just centrally located for so many activities. Almost forgot, there are two great ice cream parlors in Harwich no more than 5 to 7 minutes away: The School House (my favorite) and Sundae School. This house was a great find!"

  • Amazing New Year Holiday

"My husband and I along with our three small children celebrated the New Year enjoying Chatham's First Night Celebration. It is the perfect location to ring in the New Year with a family oriented focus of music, children's activities and outstanding early fireworks. We were surprised to be greeted by the outside of this home's pergola decorated in fresh green garland and a green door wreath with sand dollars and starfish. The holiday decor continued with a beautiful garland on the mantle along with a coordinated Christmas tree of miniature white lights, starfish and sand dollars. While there was plenty of restaurants open, we couldn't pass up cooking in the well outfitted kitchen after buying the freshest seafood at the Chatham Fish and Lobster Co. less than a mile from the house. Our children loved playing in the finished lower level outfitted with the 2nd large TV and its own bathroom. It allowed us to entertain friends in the large kitchen after the kids had eaten. Truly a house that accomadates different age groups as our 2 yr old we put to bed early and older siblings at play didn't wake her. Beds have lovely warm duvets and the most comfortable mattresses ever. We enjoyed exploring and walked to Ridgevale Rd Beach via a private path. Easy safe walk for our kids ranging in age 2-8. We can't wait to visit this home during warmer weather. The owners Claire and Walt are super easy to work with and the house has a binder with all of their favorite places to eat, explore and visit. • Charming, cozy, cute and convenient

"We stayed here for just three nights as a quick getaway while we were on a longer New England trip. As other reviewers noted, this is a perfectly appointed cottage, and just the right size for 3-4 people. The furnishings and decor are really well done and appropriately nautical, and there is essentially everything one would need in the kitchen. The cottage is an easy walk to Main Street shops and restaurants and a slightly more significant walk to beaches/ponds. The owner made the rental arrangements easy. Would definitely recommend."
