  • A delightfully cosy place to spend Thanksgiving

"My husband and I wanted a quiet break from family chaos this Thanksgiving, so we looked for a comfortable place to spend a few days. The Little White House was perfect. It's a classic Cape house, solidly built and immaculately maintained. Great views of the salt march and across to the Wellfleet Town Pier. Everything was comfortable and thoughtfully arranged; the kitchen is extremely well-equipped for a rental, and Nick and Elisa left some apples, nuts, cider and sparkling water for us. This is an old house, with the smallish rooms and windows and low ceilings typical of older Cape houses. You'll need to duck your head frequently when going up the stars and through the doors. If you are looking for large open plan spaces and big picture windows and French doors, or a huge kitchen with granite counters and all the latest appliances, this probably isn't for you. Also, one of the bedrooms is a walk-through and there's just one bathroom, so this might not be great for a larger group. For a couple, it was much more space than we needed, and would probably be just right if we had brought our two children, as well. If you don't mind an older house, this one offers both comfort and cheerfulness. It has a very nice feel to it. It's also in a lovely private setting. We didn't use the outdoor space because it was cold, but the yard and garden looked like a wonderful place to sit and watch the sunsets. There's an outdoor fire-pit, too. More generally: we love the Cape in the off-season. No traffic!! And if you like taking walks, winter beaches and trails are the best. No crowds, same gorgeous views."

  • Thoughtfully orchestrated getaway. If they don't have it, you don't need it...

"We were in town for a weekend wedding and were happy with our decision to stay here. We piled in 2 grandparents, 2 kids and 4 adults and had plenty of room and distractions to pass the time we weren't being wedding guests. Although not really walk-able to downtown, this location is self-sufficient enough to get there and forget the rest."
