  • Very nice property...

"We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. The location is ideal, as the description indicates; the walk to downtown Chatham is about 15 minutes whereas Lighthouse Beach is only about 5-10 minutes away. Putting in a kayak is a matter of walking 25 yards down the street to the public landing on Mill Pond; from there, it's possible to paddle all the way out to Stage Harbor and Nantucket Sound, though I'd recommend paying close attention to the tide charts in order to avoid arm fatigue! South Chatham has many beautiful routes for those who like to run, stroll, or bike. Having stayed in both West and North Chatham, I would say unequivocally that this is the most consistently picturesque part of town. For those who like to fish, the drawbridge on Bridge Street about a mile's walk away seems to be a popular spot. Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge is another highly recommended nearby destination, but in this case high tide will make it impossible to stroll the beach so a visit needs to be carefully planned. We stayed in the Captain's House and have few if any complaints regarding the property. The cottage was spotless on arrival and the kitchen perfectly equipped for my mother-in-law to produce fabulous meals throughout our stay. There is an outdoor gas grill which functioned perfectly and an outdoor shower with both cold and hot water to wash off the beach sand at the end of the day. About the only negatives were somewhat dim lighting in the upstairs bathroom which made it somewhat difficult to perform tasks like shaving and a back door which wouldn't lock properly, of which we made the NEVR aware. One caution: the upstairs master bedroom is cozy and romantic but the stairway up to it very steep and not for the faint hearted or those with walking or balance problems. Our elderly in-laws took one look on arrival and put their luggage into the downstairs bedroom."

  • Perfect home for family vacation

"Our family is so excited to have booked our second year in a row at this amazing vacation home. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for our large family and mid week visitors. We had planned to go downtown which is so close but once we arrived we never wanted to leave! The property is beyond beautifully maintained, and completely private. Our kids loved playing in the yard while we leisurely cooked on the grill. The quaint, beautiful beach is steps away which was perfect for our older children to walk home as they wanted. Highly recommend this home for a stress free, fun family vacation. We are hoping to make this a yearly tradition."

  • Maison familiale au bord de l'eau

"Nous avons passé une semaine en famille dans cette maison très conviviale, située au calme, à proximité de l'eau. Nous recommandons chaudement cette adresse et espérons pouvoir y revenir dans les prochaines années."

  • The home was clean, spacious and quiet!! We would go back again!! The owner was great to deal with!

"My husband and I absolutely loved Chatham. It is a lovely town with great beaches and lots to do there and around the cape. We had a great place to stay with all of the comforts of home and not the stuffiness of a hotel. We would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you John the owner, thank you Home Away and thank you Cape Cod :o) Christine & Terry"
