  • Sunny Cottage in Great Location

"We have enjoyed two August vacations in this snug cottage. We love to explore Pleasant Bay and the River by kayak, and the location on Barley Neck Road – a few minutes’ walk from Meeting House Pond – is ideal for kayak launching and swimming. (There’s a swim ladder on the dock at the pond.) There’s a comfortable living room with newly upgraded wi-fi, a well-equipped galley kitchen and updated bathroom – though we practically always use the roomy outdoor shower with its views of pine trees against the sky. The cottage is set well back from the road, with a small patio (complete with barbecue) where we have had many enjoyable gatherings over drinks and dinner. The owners, Beth and Craig, are friendly and responsive, always quick to reply to queries and deal with any minor problems."

  • Great house, location and owners were great

"I cannot say enough great things about this house and the owners. We rented this house with 2 other families and their children, and there was plenty of room. The house and yard are great for families, and we will definitely be back. The owners were quick to respond to any questions, and very engaged with us. Can't say enough good things about the house or the owners."

  • Fantastic house, we've already booked it for next year.

"This is the second year we've rented a place on Cape Cod for a family get-away. The last place was nice, but not set up exactly how we wanted it to be - our group is three couples and one child so we really need three rooms with double beds or larger, and one room for a child. This house really met our requirements. The bedroom configuration is great - each Master has it's own separate area and the two other rooms are also down a small corridor (though the corridor will get used by people going down into the basement). So lots of privacy. Our other requirements were: central A/C (which this house has, apart from one master bedroom which has a window unit), no pets, quiet street. This house hit all our requirements and then some. The kitchen is great, and so are the rest of the common areas, very clean and fresh. The outdoor spaces are large and well maintained. We didn't use the hot tub, but someone came to clean it while we were there so we're sure it works just fine. We used the fire pit almost every night. Next year, we plan to try to get someone to deliver some firewood so we don't have to keep running to the Stop and Shop. The gas grill worked nicely. If I was asked if anything could be done to improve the experience, I would offer two things: First, a couple of cotton blankets in the bedrooms would have been nice because comforters are kind of heavy for the summer. Second, a few comfy chairs would really help livability in the second master ( the one with three beds) and the room between the dining and living rooms. But this would just be icing on the cake for us - we loved this gorgeous house so much we're already looking forward to going back next year. I also wanted to mention that the owners are very responsive and helpful. We already received our security deposit back and we just left the place 5 days ago. The week was a great experience for all of us. Thank you!"

  • Lovely vacation home on a beautiful property

"The property is in East Orleans, right on the road to Nauset Beach. A 3-minute drive from the center of Orleans, the property is convenient to shopping and all 3 beaches (Nauset, Skaket, and the beach at Pilgrim Lake which is ideal for younger children). Picturesque Rock Harbor (home of the fishing fleet) is a brief 5-minute drive away. My wife and I (and our kids) spent parts of more than 20 summers in this section of Orleans, our favorite town on the Cape. The tall hedge on the Beach Road side of the property provided excellent sound insulation from the traffic.. The comfortably furnished 3-BR 2-Bath 1-story home is situated on a spacious tree-filled lot. The property was clean and well-maintained. The home has Central heating and AC, and is generally well-equipped and appointed. The house has a new Washer and Dryer. There is a new Flat-panel 39" TV in the Living room and an older 27" TV in the master suite. The King bed in the master BR suite was comfortable (the only one we slept on); our adult kids said the queen bed was OK. The outdoor shower would be popular with younger children. We spent a good part of our time on the lovely outside deck, and prepared meals (swordfish on the barbie) on the modern outdoor Weber grill most nights when we ate at home. Dealing with the owner (Lauren Cragen) was a pleasure; her flexibility in making arrangements was much appreciated. When we come back to the Cape (hopefully, in the next year or two), the availability of 43 Beach Road will be one of our first considerations. Only two suggested changes: 1. Include the option of a full linen package (sheets, pillow cases, towels, etc) as part of the basic rental. (If clients want to supply their own, provide a deduction from this price). We would really have appreciated not having to deal with procuring our own linens (that was a hassle). 2. Put a small sign by the break in the hedge (#43) indicating the entrance to the property from Beach Road."
