  • A gem of a place!

"My husband and I stayed in the cottage for two weeks at the end of July and into August. Our children joined us for the second week. The listing description was very accurate and the property is clean and well maintained. The cottage is very special! It is right on Oyster Pond and I found myself very often watching and listening to the Ospreys and geese and turtles and other birds going about their business of soaring and fishing and foraging. In fact, it was difficult not to constantly stare at the Pond there is so much interesting stuff happening! I didn't get a chance to take a boat out but there are several to choose from. My son took the kayak out and really enjoyed himself. We all loved the outdoor shower, the convenient trail through the woods that gets you to Fells Road and right near the Bike trail on Surf Drive running towards Woods Hole or in the opposite direction towards Falmouth for 10 miles. Of course swimming off of surf drive or in the Pond is a must! We also really enjoyed the Woods Hole Film Festival, Ben and Bill's ice cream in Falmouth, Pie in the Sky (popovers!), Jimmy's ice cream in Woods Hole, the Glass Onion restaurant (not cheap but delicious!), Quicks Hole, and the new Water Street Kitchen in Woods Hole, and much more! We highly recommend the cottage! It is magical! And the location can't be beat!"

  • Great location/home for a family vacation

"Our extended family of 14 - grandparents and 3 children's families with 6 grandchildren ages from 18-3 years - had a wonderful vacation week. We rented the Racing Beach property for the closeness to a nice beach for young children and the number of bedrooms and full bathrooms. This 1950s upgraded property did not surprise us and really met all our needs; bedrooms and bathrooms, outdoor shower was key, great porch for eating all meals and playing games, big yard for kids and adults to play, not far from towns, close to bike path, quiet, safe neighborhood for walking. While the kitchen is smallish, we made it work for preparing meals including one night of homemade pizza (the 4 families all make a meal). We all love the beach and being able to walk down any time was great. We filled the 2 carts with kids, beach supplies & toys (plenty of toys in garage!) in the morning and went for the day! The beach faces west and sunsets are magnificent. The terrain of sand vs more rocks changes often, so we needed water shoes in order to get into the water and to the sandy area/sand bar. The water is warm and no seaweed. We brought kayaks and left them safely locked at the beach - kayaking was great. In addition to the beach we; biked, went to Childrens Museum, went on a Whale Watch, road the carousel, went to Aquarium and playgrounds. Our family originally from RI has expanded to CA, VA & NC. We only get together once a year and this week was one of the best - weather does help! Thank you Annette for providing your lovely home. We will be back"

  • Perfect vacation already booking next year!

"Just completed a one week stay this home which is a perfect location for everything. Had many plans before arriving but ended up enjoying the home and private beach most of all. We entertained on the massive deck and had more than enough room for our kids and friends. Spent almost everyday at private beach so never crowded. We had overnight guests as the arrangements of bedrooms and baths and outdoor shower accommodated all. Lots of room for parking. Quiet street allowed for bike riding and large backyard allowed many long wiffle ball tournaments for all ages. Highly recommended for families with young or even teen children, or two small families. Looking forward to next year!"
