  • Great Pocasset Location and Owner

"Stayed for 5 days in early August and really enjoyed our stay. Virginia the owner was responsive and easy to work with. House is well located in Pocasset area. Hens Cove beach is a short walk from house and has a swimming beach, the young kids loved it. Old Silver beach is a short drive and is very nice and you can rent Paddle Boards there. There are a few stores in Pocasset to pick up essentials, the market is small but has an amazing selection. There is also a good Pizza place in Pocasset about 5 minutes from the house. Everything was in order when we arrived and the house is comfortable even though we had a bigger group. It has one full bathroom and a half bath but there is also a nice outdoor shower which we used extensively and never felt pressed for space. House also has good cable service and a nice TV (which was great for watching Olympics) and excellent WiFi and high speed internet. The neighborhood is really nice as are the neighbors. Overall we had a wonderful time and I would stay here again."

  • Perfect setting for a relaxing family vacation

"Our extended family (8 adults and 5 young children) spent a delightful week at Briar Hill. If I could design the perfect family vacation house, this would be it. Briar Hill is gracious and comfortable, with lots of sitting areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms, a well-stocked kitchen, and best of all, a porch extending around 3 sides of the house. Every need seemed to have been anticipated, whether it was extra linens, ice (exceptional ice maker), board games, or sand chairs for the beach. The grounds are spacious and private, with lots of shade and open space for the kids to run around, play Frisbee, etc. Briar Hill is located in a quiet corner of the Cape, but within a short drive to beaches, shops, churches, and fun places for kids like mini golf, Cape Cod league baseball games, or the Woods Hole Aquarium. We hope to return and explore some more."

  • Amazing sunsets. Not so amazing beds.

"I would have given five stars here except for the sleeping accommodations and part of the furniture. The only two large beds were futons. And the living room couch cushions should be re-uphusltered or upgraded to a new couch. For the price being asked, this was a disappointment and the only thing that would keep us from renting again next year. It is not a cheap rental and you are really paying for the location. (which is stunning!) None of the adults with us had a good nights sleep...a real bummer on vacation. If you have kids I recommend packing more clothing than you need. There is no washer dryer. I missed that in the description. We sent a bag to the local laundromat for $33. Not ideal on a vacation. The house did have plenty of towels, but again with kids, we went through all the ones we brought and half of theirs since you can't keep them clean. The area has a ton to do for all ages. The owners were really lovely and helpful. You will not believe the sunsets. It is an amazing little piece of the world. Perhaps they'll make some upgrades for next year. It was a wonderful week other than the above notes."

  • Beautiful and well-equipped home

"The property was spacious and in good condition in a very nice neighborhood. The back deck was very large and perfectly setup with furniture and a grill. We would definitely recommend the home to friends and family. Cape Cod is a place with great food, beaches, lighthouses, rails-to-trails biking, and an overall friendly atmosphere. The architecture of 17th-century homes in the Falmouth area are a must to see. Woods Hole is also close by, home to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. They have a small, free aquarium that is perfect for families with young children. The area also has really good seafood, of course, and also the local "Brockton-style Pizza" at restaurants like Charlie's Place & Paul's Pizza that is a rarity. The owner of the home was easy to work with and gave clear directions on what to expect. Using VRBO was very helpful in comparing properties and we will use VRBO again in the future!"
