  • Can't Wait to go Back Next Year!!

"“We had such a great time at the Wellfleet house! From the moment you walked in the door, it felt like home! The house itself is so cozy and nicely decorated! There was plenty of room for the five of us , including a dog, which is another plus, pet friendly! The best part, though, was the outside living space! Not only is there a deck, but there is a fenced in yard that houses an in-ground pool! What more could you ask for? And the beach, which was gorgeous, is literally only a 10 minute walk from the house, which made it perfect for us because people could come and go as they pleased! I cannot wait to visit again!”"

"This house challenges my ability to use words to explain how wonderful it is. It’s a special home that manages to please in every way. It is solidly made (people can sleep on the lower floor and not hear a thing in the great room upstairs), well appointed (it’s almost impossible to need anything but your toothbrush and clothes), beautifully furnished (with a combination of antiques and state of the art electronics) and welcoming (with soft comfortable furniture, toys/games/books tidily displayed, and a layout that makes sense) … But what really gets you is the magnificent view from nearly every room in the house, exposing a pristine harbor, and a long beach ideal for hiking (both the harbor and ocean side). If beach is your thing, there happens to be another right in front of the house, just three flights down. I review a lot, with over 60,000 reads on Trip Advisor. Plus I’ve probably done at least 40 vacation rentals over the past 25 years. Even when I give a very good review, I like to be honest with the reader and find some downside. I struggle to find one here. If pushed, I would say that you might be frustrated with not having enough time. In this house, not only is Wellfleet (and the Cape) your focus, but the house itself is a destination (take a jacuzzi, play ping pong or pool, sit in the Great room and read, drink wine, or cook with a view, after dark you can enjoy the stars from the deck, watch something on TV, or gather around the large dining table for an animated game of Monopoly.) In this house there is so much to enjoy, you may miss some wonderful things Wellfleet has to offer!"

  • This place is a gem as is the owner!

"My husband and I stayed in this cottage on our first trip to Cape Cod as part of a month-long retirement trip. We just loved our stay in this cottage! The property is situated on a bluff overlooking a huge tidal creek. Views were just awesome, and watching the tidal changes was a daily treat - the "creek" empties out almost entirely at low tide, exposing an aquafarming section (fascinating), and at high tide provides outstanding opportunities for kayaking. There were ample places to sit and enjoy the views including the front porch. Access to the water & kayaks was via a very well constructed stairs designed to minimize steepness. Sunsets were spectacular! The cottage was perfect for us: the kitchen was modest, but gave us all that we needed; the bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. (I will say that although we are in our early 60's and did fine, there is no bathroom on the 2nd floor, so be aware of that). We woke up every morning to the beautiful view through the large window in the front bedroom. Downstairs also comfortable, though we spent most of our time, including meals, on the porch where you might see a sudden drama of squirrels escaping a hawk, lots of chipmunks, and wild turkeys stroll up over the bluff and stop in the yard to eat. Nearby Wellfleet is not a big tourist-y looking town, and it has lots of charm. It is on a harbor and there are picturesque places all around, "Uncle Timothy's bridge" over a small tidal creek, the pier to the harbor, lovely beaches, ponds to swim in (when it was too windy on the beach) little "main street" theatreand lots of places to eat good food around the area. Within 20-30 minutes, you can drive to the National Park, Truro and Provincetown; the Audubon Sanctuary is right in Wellfleet. To us, this property was perfectly situated. We had a spectacular whale watching cruise out of P-town. At beaches near Wellfleet, seals were abundant at high tide and came very close to shore for great viewing. One of the BEST parts of our stay was getting to know the owner whose house was also on the property. Linda was a friendly, terrific host who will give you privacy as well as being receptive to you sitting with her and hearing the history of her family and the property. We enjoyed her friendship and humor tremendously! Just can't say enough about how getting to know Linda enhanced the enjoyment of our stay. Can't imagine why we'd stay anywhere else on Cape Cod and only wish we had planned to stay longer."

  • Perfect location and nice house

"We stayed at Samoset for two weeks and enjoyed it a lot. The only problem was that there were some holes in the window screens (which the owners said they didn't know about and plan to fix) and we had some bug issues. Other than that one small thing, the house is very nicely laid out and was very clean when we arrived. The kitchen is well-equipped and well designed, and it was a pleasure to cook there. (I used to be a chef and I appreciate an efficient kitchen.) The screened porch is lovely and spacious, and you can eat dinner either there or inside. The house faces west and the sunsets are magnificent. We watched birds and bunnies from the porch and from the back deck. The walk to the beach is about 2 minutes and we took a kayak down and paddled around Wellfleet harbor. Lots of good beachcombing and tide pooling as well. It was fun to watch the mussels and crabs feeding as the tide came in. Downtown Wellfleet is a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk along the beach, with lots of good restaurants, shops and galleries. All in all, a great place to stay."
