  • A charming cottage with a wonderful kitchen

"We had a wonderful time in this lovely, simple cottage. The kitchen is a true cook's space with an extraordinary collection top-quality pots and pans, a six burner gas stove and even a burr coffee grinder. We found staples like olive oil, salt, etc. in the cabinets. Beyond the kitchen, the house is rustic but comfortable. Unlike some short-term rentals, the cottage is not stripped bare -- there are books and games on the shelves, wildlife guides for hikes in the woods and the beaches, and plenty of beach towels."

  • Charming cottage in spectacular location

"There aren't that many properties like this left on the Vineyard. It's what used to be referred to as a "camp": a simple, comfortable cottage with a huge fireplace at its center. While the cottage has been nicely updated with a spacious master bedroom with a very comfortable bed, the real draw here is the location: just a few hundred yards from the shore of Chilmark Pond. The pond itself is lovely, pristine, and uncrowded: usually the only other creatures you'll encounter are waterfowl and fish. But it's what's beyond that's truly special: an absolutely world class ocean facing beach. The sand is white and smooth, the beach broad enough so there's plenty of room even at high tide, and most of all, since access is limited to those who have access to the pond, it's uncrowded (in fact, in mid-June, before the season really kicks in, it was entirely deserted most days. Not another person in sight). One of the great things about the house is the boats provided, which is a rarity among island rentals. There's a motorboat (with fuel provided) that allows you to get to the barrier beach in a few minutes, and also let's you easily explore the whole pond. One of the oarlocks was broken when I was there (though still usable); the owner repaired it immediately when I let her know. Beyond that, the house comes with everything you need to be comfortable: linens, towels, a washer/dryer, and above all, wonderful views from most rooms and the huge deck. A great house that I hope to come back to some day."

  • Spacious 1-room, 2-person cottage, walking distance from South Beach.

"This is a second building on the owner's property, and he is friendly and generous in dealing with requests. If you like the open ocean, this is for you. A short walk down the road and a short wade across Chilmark Pond, and you are on a practically deserted beach facing South America. Outdoor seating area is comfortable, with a gas grill and fire pit for cold season visits."

  • Perfect place for family reunion!

"The owners are extremely inviting and responsive. They quickly responded to our requests. The house is beautiful, spacious, and very livable. The location is ideal, walkable to the center of West Tisbury, and they have private beach access. We loved staying there."
