  • Perfect Location, Comfortable Home

"This is the fourth house we've rented on Martha's Vineyard (always Edgartown) and the best one so far. It is in the perfect location - just a few blocks from the shops, art galleries and restaurants of Edgartown but tucked away on a very quiet side street. You don't even need a car or bike because everything is so close (including the bus stop) but there is a place to park 2-3 cars. The house itself is spacious, bright, well-stocked, and nicely decorated, with loads of books everywhere. We were six people and the three main house bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were more than adequate for our needs. The bedrooms were a good size, reading nooks were present in the upper two bedrooms, and the beds themselves were quite comfortable. There was also a living room and a separate family room so we were able to spread out. The family room was bright and airy and had games and puzzles to keep the kids occupied. We also had everything we needed in the kitchen and laundry area and very much appreciated that there were beach towels and beach chairs to use. There is a pleasant back/side yard as well, which could be made more useable with a slightly different outdoor furniture configuration. The owner was also excellent to work with - responsive and helpful, reminding us of key dates like car ferry reservations and local events. I would strongly recommend this home, particularly based upon our experience of having rented three other houses within blocks of this one."

  • Lots of light. Great location.

"We spent a week at the house in July. The main house had a great master BR and screened in porch off kitchen. The living space downstairs was a little cramped for our group but very pleasant. Kitchen drawers and cupboards little cluttered with lower end cookware and pans. Dishes abundant and fresh. We were surprised on arrival with no toilet paper, dish soap, kitchen trash bags, kleenex or paper towel. Dishwasher full of dishes and items in a fridge in apt. I think that was the cleaning groups oversight. Regardless, it was inconvenient. The apartment over garage is ok space. You have to walk through a damp garage to access stairs to the apt. Nicely decorated upstairs space. Solid bathroom with shower. The garage had a bocce ball set, partial set of horse shoes, croquet set and a few other toys. Outdoor gas grill large and powerful. That was handy. The location is great. Bike to South Beach, bike to Edgartown and walk to the private small beach around corner and down path. Quiet and private. No road or water danger for families with small children. Tip : It has two fans. I would bring a third for the upstairs bunk room. Grab a few eye shades for sleeping. The two upstairs bedrooms flood with sunshine in the morning. I would also ask if the missing smoke alarm in apartment has been reinstalled."

  • Nicely Updated Cottage in Terrific Location!

"Eight of us, including kids ages 12-15, arrived to this cozy, bright and nicely decorated one-story cottage on a quiet street. The house is a stones throw from the Right Fork Diner (serving dinner now too) and Katama Airfield and a short bike to South Beach. Most days we ventured out to a beach or town but we always were eager to return home to enjoy the large pool, private yard and back deck with new grill. Wide bike paths leading to the beach or to Edgartown are easily accessible at both ends of the street. The kitchen, although small, was fully equipped and open to the TV and seating areas. The master room off of the pool has a kitchenette and fridge that were perfect for storing extra food and drinks. It also has another TV sitting area which we used to spread out. The beds and linens were clean and comfortable and there are plenty of bath and beach towels. AC units were in the 3 bedrooms to keep us comfortable at night. The owner, Jason, and his property manager, Dana, were extremely responsive and helpful. Emails and texts were answered almost immediately. We had an issue with the washing machine and it was fixed the same day. We would definitely come back to South Beach Lodge!"

  • Post-Labor Day Long Weekend!

"Our group rented this house for a three day weekend in September, and we were so pleased with our stay! The house was even more roomy and accommodating than it looked in the pictures, with plenty of privacy as well as spacious communal areas for socializing. The back porch and yard with outdoor shower were a few highlights. We found everything we needed in the kitchen and pantry, and the house was well-stocked with cleaning supplies and cooking apparatus. We also loved the proximity to Edgartown - the house is walking distance to Fuller Street Beach, Lighthouse Beach, and all the coffee shops and restaurants town has to offer while still being removed from the chaos of Main Street. We found the lack of air conditioning to be a non-issue, we just opened the windows and allowed the island breezes to cool the house down. The owner was very responsive and helpful, and the whole weekend came together seamlessly. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a great place to stay in town."
