  • A Gread Find

"Our experience with this rental could not have been better. Let me share some of the reasons. First, there's nothing like staying in Upper Makonikey. It's less than a ten minute walk to stairs beach, which gives you access to a private beach next to the famous "Split Rock." Every morning I woke up and took the dog for a walk to the beach and threw the ball into the surf until she was tired. Most nights we walked back to the beach for the sunset. (The pictures were epic.) During the day we went to Lambert's Cove. That right there would be a great vacation. But the property itself is fantastic. A beautiful layout with plenty of room for kids/guests and four different spaces to eat. We had dinner outside every night and coffee/breakfast on the wrap-around deck every morning and didn't even use the dining room. The kitchen was large and comfortable and the yard was spacious and private. From the time we rented until the end of our stay, Dan (the owner) was responsive and helpful. My only regret about this house is that we discovered it only this year after after more than 20 trips to the Vineyard."

  • Lovely retreat

"Narrow, rutted dirt road leads to a really lovely house set in the country. Beautifully decorated with high ceilings and lots of windows. Two comfortable bedrooms, great for two couples. Very quiet and peaceful. Convenient to bike path. Equidistant to all the towns. A great getaway."

  • The perfect place!

"This is a stunning and graceful retreat thoughtfully designed so that nothing is wanting. Our family has stayed at this lovely home during the past two summers--and hope to return again and again. Whether with a small group in the main house or with additional friends or family in the guest house (also beautifully done), the configuration works well to relax comfortably. The house is designed to allow for natural light, is open and airy, and is furnished very tastefully. Everything you might need is provided - for cooking, the beach, a bike ride around the nature preserve right out back, or for a relaxing time outside on the deck or backyard hammock. The house is conveniently located close to the beach at Lambert's Cove, Cronig's Market, the Scottish Bakehouse and the towns of West Tisbury, Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs and Edgar Town. The owners of the house are terrific and their house is outstanding!"

  • So good, I hardly want to tell you about it

"This house, I'd love to own it; alas, I only got to rent it. It sits atop a hill among age old stately trees and overlooks the sea. It has enough room for 3 couples and 4 kids to luxuriate. The common space is inviting and sunny. Each bed is a good one, and has quality comfortable bedding. The kitchen is very well appointed -- it even has truly sharp knives, so that my Global didn't even need to make an appearance (I packed it out of habit). The house belongs to people who love it. That much is clear from the moment you step in to the moment you leave, reluctantly, to catch the ferry."
