  • Perfect family rental w/everything you need & more

"My family stayed at Marcy's home during the first week of August 2016 and it was just wonderful! The house and the grounds are just setup so well for family and friends. We had four consistent residents the entire week: Me, my wife, our 11-month old son and our dog, then we had different groups of friends with their kids join us throughout the week. It's tough to find a property that can comfortably work for such an eclectic mix of people and personalities cycling in and out throughout a week, but I couldn't be more happy to report that Balla Machree exceeded all expectations. Some of the high notes from our stay: > All bedrooms on the ground floor, with access to the upper living area via a central stairway. Sound did not travel very well between the floors, so what was going on upstairs didn't bother anyone trying to sneak in a nap or hit the hay early downstairs. The cooking and living areas also look out onto the tree tops, which is a view much better enjoyed while hanging out than snoozing. > Very comfortable master bedroom and en-suite master bath. This gives the property a very nice luxury touch. > No A/C needed. We were worried about this on account of the dog and baby, but even on the the hottest days it was not an issue. Sleeping temperature each night dropped to a very comfortable temp. > Awesome outdoor shower! It's cavernous and super helpful for preventing the beach from coming indoors with you. > Equally awesome fire pit with lounge seating for 8. Really fun way end a day on the vineyard by gathering around an open fire. > Hiking trail directly connected to the backyard. Our dog had a blast galloping through the woods. Bring some bug spray, but enjoy a morning walk or run through the woods. There are a bunch of trails that connect and I may have gotten myself lost a couple times after hiking all the way down to the lagoon. > Two grills! One down by the fire pit and another up on the deck. Super convenient."

  • Great Stay in Vineyard Haven!!!

"Our overall experience with our stay at the house was really great! The house is very accomodating for multiple guests with its two floors having bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom, and deck space on each floor, however, the outdoor shower was my favorite amenity of the house! My guests and I really enjoyed hanging out on the large top deck with plenty of room to sit and relax. You truly feel like you are in the trees on that deck! Nice and relatively quiet street with minimal traffic. Wish the house had A/C but in all honestly it wasn't too bad at night with all the windows open. The owners of the property are extremely kind and thoughtful checking in, wanting to make sure our stay was going well throughout the week. We even experienced a heavy tropical storm on our last day that caused ferry cancellations, and the hosts were very accommodating with adjusting our check out time. This was really appreciated on our end! Thank you so much!"

  • Beautiful and spacious home in a wonderful location on Martha's Vineyard

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay in mid-September at Lisa and Ivory's exceptional home in the Vineyard Haven area. Located just a little over a mile from the down-town area of VH, and an easy walk through a beautifully wooded area, the wonderfully appointed house offers everything a family (or families) could want for a comfortable visit to the island. Lisa and Ivory were the most gracious hosts we've ever rented from, giving us not only a personal review of the facilities but also of the vast opportunities for recreation and pleasure in the area. And they provided more travel-related info than we could possibly digest, including recommendations for the best restaurants, great sight-seeing and shopping opportunities, and a feel for the diverse areas of the Vineyard. Two of our favorite locations on the Island were the Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary and Lambert's Cove beach. Biking opportunities abound, and there are limitless beach areas for long, relaxing walks. And some of the most spectacular sunsets you'll ever see."

  • Quintessential Martha's Vineyard

"The Larrier House is everything you could want in Martha's Vineyard rental home. The location is central to everything on the island. You can walk into Vineyard Haven, or take the convenient bus that stops just outside. The home is warm and inviting. The owner goes out of her way to provide information on what to do in Martha's Vineyard, which made our stay that much more enjoyable. The rooms are large and well furnished. The outdoor garden is a lovely place to relax. We grilled several times, and took full advantage of the large backyard. Our boys played soccer on the back yard lawn, and had a soccer field 3x the size of our yard at home. Owner must be a gourmet chef, as the kitchen was very well stocked with a wide range of tools, utensils, etc. that only a gourmet chef would use. We look forward to returning next year."
