  • We should have stayed for 2 weeks!

"This rental delivers exactly what it states. It's very clean and comfortable cottage on a picturesque setting on the water. Really really relaxing and quiet cove you can paddle or swim on. We paddled over to several small coves and Sandy P oints for picnics and fishing, the stripers had moved out into cooler water, but my 11 yr old was happy to catch crabs and minnows the beach. No AC but that wasn't a problem, the evening temp and breeze made it great for sleeping. We found it easy to drive or bike into Vinyard Haven, or drop down to Edgardtown or south beach. If you rent this cottage, you will probably notice how quiet the point is, and how little traffic comes up the road. You can bbq on the charcoal grill, or get to several restuarants in VH in 5 minutes even if traffic is busy. Overall, we loved staying here and plan to go back next year."

  • loved it!

"This house was impeccably clean, well kept, tastefully and simply furnished and decorated (including some charming wall art by very young and creative artists!) , located about one mile outside of the center of Vineyard Haven on a quiet street a couple blocks away from the shore. The owners thoughtfully provided so many nice touches (e.g. plenty of cheerful kid friendly plastic ware that seemed new, a good selection of spices in the kitchen, a basic first aid kit, dryer balls for the dryer, a fine array of toys, games and books for all ages, even arts and crafts supplies), and avoided that "touristy" feel of some rentals - the feel was that of staying at the beloved home of a friend who thinks of everything. The compact kitchen was well equipped with good quality tools and cookware. The back yard is large, grassy and private feeling. We shared the house with two adults and one three year old and felt we had plenty of space. We were without a car and so appreciated that linens and nice beach towels were included. Our one minor suggestion to the owners would be to add thermal/sun-blocking window shades for the upstairs bedrooms, which got hot during the day (although our week was uncharacteristically hot and still) - but the plentiful fans helped at night. The owners were responsive and super easy to work with. An excellent experience all the way around."

  • Charming hideaway

"Love this charming retreat - perfect place to relax in peace and quiet yet with all the amenities. The dual sunset over Lake Tashmoo and Vineyard Sound was captivating - took amazing photos of sunsets and the flowers/fauna. This cottage is warm and welcoming and you immediately feel at home. Very comfortable, not stuffy or formal. Loved browsing the books - shelves of selections for every age, the outdoor shower was fun (there's an indoor shower for the less adventurous), and it has every amenity you could wish for. Nice walk down the country road to the jetty and beach, and nearby nature conservancy on the sound. And you can swim or boat in the lake or in the sound. Or clam, or fish, or fly a kite... Not far from Vineyard Haven - just a bike ride, short drive or vigorous walk. A lovely little sanctuary from the world's hustle and bustle. Can't wait to return to recharge."

  • Chickadee is Perfect!

"If you're looking for the perfect place for your first stay on island or for a return visit for someone who's more islander than washashore; Chickadee cottage is a must! .5mi from Vineyard Haven ferry, directly on the bus and bike routes, you can easily get to town or up island from the cottage without a car. The location is ideal. I brought my car but didn't drive it when going to Net Results or Art Cliff Diner. The owners are fantastic! They thought of everything and had it in the cottage. I forgot my glasses and they even provided me with a magnifying glass (readers are too strong)! My only hesitation in recommending the birdhouses is that this best kept secret on island will get out and will be booked for my next rental. You won't go wrong staying in either of the birdhouse cottages!"
