  • Comfortable house, great location.

"This was our first time at The Harpoon and may not be our last. We have been in some newer and higher-end houses on Plum Island and after a week this summer The Harpoon ranks high on our list. There is nothing fancy about the house -- just good character -- and that is just fine. Compared to other homes this one is prepared for vacation renters. It is not crowded with personal items, nor are most closets and cupboards off-limits, both of which can make you feel like you are intruding in someone's home. The main floor is open. Comfortable living room, good kitchen and eating area, good-sized bath. A plus is a separate room -- call it a reading room -- which is a nice feature if you want to have a place to sit quietly and look at a book or to play games, which we did. The downstairs (ground level) is partially finished and fully adequate as a third sleeping area (with bath and laundry). The upstairs (second floor) consists of two bedrooms and plenty of room and closets. The only thing I would note about the upstairs is the flooring, which is also is the ceiling for the first floor. Without carpeting and the usual air separation between floor and ceiling squeaks and other sounds travel easily between the floors. If that is a downside (a minor one) there also is a big upside about the house: the big deck. There is plenty of room to relax and recreate with the kids. Plenty of comfortable chairs and a nice outdoor dining table set that easily accommodated eight. Umbrellas were there for our use but we didn't feel the need to use them. And if the deck is nice, the location is even better. From that deck we can see water to the west (tidal area) and north (the Merrimack as it nears the ocean). The walk to the beach on the estuary takes less than a minute. If we wanted to walk to the ocean side it would have taken 5 minutes. To the playground even less. And with the Plum Island Lighthouse immediately on the south side of the property, we had an element of privacy as well as nice sight. Last, the very pleasant owner of the home was responsive to our questions and attentive to details at the house. We thank her for our week at The Harpoon and hope to return."

  • The property was comfy and well maintained. We had everything that we needed. It was a great!!

"The property was very nice. It was spacious enough for the three of us, 2 adults and a child. The area was very centrally located for everything. There were great restaurants and beaches within 5 minutes. It was quiet at night and we all slept very well. Lisa was very accommodating and shared great places for us to visit. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return next summer."

  • Great place!

"The good news, or one of the bits of good news, is that parking for one car is directly outside the door. Having rented other places where the car was a bit of a hike, we really liked this. While literally steps away from Bearskin Neck, it is also tucked away from the crowds that infest the neck, and all the assorted delivery trucks and the trash pickup guys. Which means quiet, and no truck outside your bedroom window at 7 a.m. or earlier. We stayed there for two weeks in August, 2016, and quite loved it. The management folks are very nice, and accommodating to odd requests (due to a family wedding we had some time constraints a bit outside of their regular hours.) Very highly recommended."

  • Lovely Location, lovely everything!

"My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at this wonderful apartment. We had a fantastic time and walked everywhere from Old Town, up to Five Corners and enjoyed the strolls throughout the neighborhood and shops in town. The apartment had absolutely everything that you could want and the kitchen was especially well stocked with all the essentials, including organic olive oil and wonderful spices! The colors in the main rooms were bright, cheerful and "happy" and the large windows offered a nice, cooling breeze. I would highly recommend. The only amenity that I would add would be a little seating area by the apartment door to offer a cozy private outdoor space for guests. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!"
