  • Breathtaking Natural Beauty

"Maria was a wonderful host. She greeted us warmly when we arrived--six of us, my 95 year old parents, my sister and her daughter, my wife and myself. The house itself is charming: warm and inviting, with three distinctly furnished bedrooms, and a sleeping area in the open living room-dining room area which comfortably accommodated my parents who, alas, can no longer climb stairs. The glass doors open onto a deck which overlooks the marshland and inlet from which we launched the house canoe. We spent hours following the adventures of the snow egrets, gulls, and swallows. For my money, this side of the island is even more beautiful and compelling than the ocean across the street! With Mad Martha's Cafe two blocks away, your morning coffee needs are easily met but the well-stocked kitchen has everything you need to be your own chef. Oh and did I mention the delightful lily pond and garden at the front of house? A great place to meditate, and if necessary, to find respite (should you need it) from the gorgeous sunsets on the other side of the house. We'd return here in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for everything, Maria."

  • Great house for family vacation

"We had a perfect week on PI at Days Serene. We were very happy with the house, I will give an honest review because I think that informed owners and guests have the best experience! Pros: LOCATION is great, walk to basin, river beach, and ocean beach. The neighborhood was lively on Friday & Saturday nights but quiet the rest of the week. PETS allowed. Dogs can go to the basin beach and lounge on the porch. there is yard space on the side of the house where we tied our dogs out while we were home, so they could watch the goings on in the neighborhood. Unfortunately previous guests allowed their pups to poop there and did not clean it up - pigs. I did my best to clean it all up. SPACE! So much space. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths plus outdoor shower, large open living/dining room, large porch, lots of parking. COMFORT: Beds were great, comfy couch and chairs, family style dining area, cafe seating in the breakfast area, plenty of hot water, AC is fabulous. AMENITIES: cable TV, wifi, beach chairs, awesome wagon to haul your stuff to the beach. Nice big fridge with cold water dispenser and an ice maker! Full size washer and dryer - don't be afraid to let your kids play in the basin muck at low tide! HOSTS: Dick checked in through messaging & phone and offered to come by the house if we needed anything. I didn't bring king sized sheets, since I misread the description and thought that the master had a queen. Maureen came over to drop off a nice clean set of king sheets. Thanks so much! I will list a couple minor 'cons' for those who might have particular hang-ups! ANTS: Perhaps an unfortunate result of having an older cottage on ground level :( we hid our food in the microwave, fridge, and oven because anything on the counter or in cabinets had ants crawling on it. KITCHEN: the kitchen had all the necessities, except for a dishwasher. so the small amount of counter space was cluttered with our dish rack. Any dishes we took out of the cabinet had to be re-washed before use - I would blame the previous guests not the hosts! We found some not-so-clean plates and silverware. The cabinets are kinda older, countertops not level due to the cottage settling. The oven is located on the other side - not the typical 'work triangle' but at least there is an oven! Who uses an oven in a beach cottage anyway? The kitchen was fine for us, but if you're looking for a gourmet work area you might not be thrilled. Overall great stay, thanks!"

  • Very comfortable and amazing location

"My spouse, son and I live in Portland, ME and we were looking for a fun place to visit for a couple of days while my parents were in town from CA. I knew nothing about Newburyport area, but it seemed worth exploring. This house turned out to be ideal for us. We all had our own space, including my son. There's not a lot of privacy because the bedrooms are very close with thin walls between them, but that was fine for us. There were beautful porches and decks with peak views of the water. The gorgeous beach was only a few steps away. There are a few nice restaurants and food stores within walking distance. The adorable downtown is less than 10-mins away. Pam was a wonderful host. We never saw her, but she graciously responded immediately to any questions. The house is a completely charming beach house, and is well stocked with everything one could possibly need. We had a wonderful visit, and I highly recommend it."

  • Like a Visit to a Dear Friend

"I'm doing this against my better judgement because I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Nancy and her warm hospitality and lovely home, and I am afraid it will be booked when my wife and I want to stay there again when we visit our son, who lives in Newburyport. Nancy is a most gracious and accommodating hostess; her house is equipped like a 4-star hotel; her breakfasts are huge, nutritious and delicious; the location is super convenient to whatever you likely want to do in Newburyport (which is definitely worth a visit); and her cats are friendly. As noted, she has two cats, so if you're allergic, bring medicine; and as advertised, the bedroom is up a steep and narrow spiral staircase, so if you're infirm, think twice, and even if you're not, don't bring a large suitcase. Otherwise, by all means book this delightful establishment. But, please, not when we want to stay there again."
