"We rented the house for a family reunion and it was perfect for our stay. Everyone had their own rooms (we also rented out the basement, which was very comfortable) and we all enjoyed the air-conditioned house during a blistery hot weekend in July. The mattresses and pillows were all quite comfortable, and Mary made sure each room had an AC and fan. There was plenty of space to lounge around between the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The house was perfectly located too - we could easily walk 20 min to downtown Salem to take in the sites, or just drive 5 min and be downtown in no time. Parking was very easy (the large driveway accommodated our three cars) and we took evening strolls around the charming neighborhood. The house is stocked with brochures, directions, maps, and suggestions on things to do, and Mary was the ultimate host. She suggested an itinerary for our family, gave perfect restaurant recommendations, and had insider knowledge about the town and its history. Mary is so nice and very easy to work with - she responded to my multiple inquiries quickly and politely, and I enjoyed meeting her when we checked in. We would definitely recommend staying at Leslie's Retreat and making a visit to Salem - we were there three days and could have stayed another week at least. Thank you Mary for making our family reunion perfect and memorable!"

"This was an incredible location to explore Salem and the Boston area. This very large home met all of our needs. It is in a beautiful neighborhood, close to the downtown area. It has a large kitchen and dining area, and comfortable living room. Highly recommend for any large family or group of friends!"

"The Pond House was a great vacation haven where my family spent one week enjoying the Idyllic surroundings. We felt like we were in a fairy tale place with ducks, frogs, turtles and fantastic birds. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the beach almost every day. The kitchen appliances and the electronics could use an upgrade, but once we got use to the quirks, we managed to focus on the joys of being together and the peace and serenity around us. A great place to vacation."

"My family of 14 stayed in this home and we had a wonderful time! This home had plenty of space for everyone to sleep and everyone had a bed! The bedrooms were all fairly large and there was plenty of space to relax and hang out. There were 2 living room spaces to relax and unwind in the evening. A spacious dining room area with a wood burning stove(that we did actually did use to warm up a bit one morning) and plenty of seating. There were 3 showers and 4 toilets, which actually worked out just fine for everyone and the water pressure and hot water was just fine! The kitchen was fully equipped with all your cooking needs with a regular coffee pot and a kuerig. The home is older, but definitely has all the updates and updated, nice furniture. It was very clean. There was also seating in the back yard, with chairs and a picnic table along with a gas grill. The home's location was close to the downtown area in Salem(a couple blocks and a walk through the park). There was a great Pizza place just a couple blocks away called Amazing Pizza....delicious and friendly owner! The commuter train was in walking distance to the house, maybe 10 minutes and we used that for 2 days to get to Boston and back. We took the train($7pp to the north station in Boston) and then had to switch trains depending on what part of town we wanted to go to. We did take an uber to the USS Constitution once and the one way trip was $77! The train was much easier and convenient. You would not necessarily need a car depending on where you wanted to go. However, we did have one car for our group and did use it to run to the grocery store, which is probably not as walkable(except CVS and other shops). We also took an uber from the airport and the cost was about $35/45 vs $65 for a cab(we had one of each) and the ride from the house to the airport is about 45minutes. Cole, the owner, was delightful to work with and replied to emails within a couple hours to a day. We would definitely consider returning to this home if we vacationed in this area again!"
