  • Nice vacation property overall

"Great convenient location, close to water, house was clean and mostly well maintained, the kitchen is specious and very well equipped, wine cooler adds luxury. But there is still a room for improvement, particularly in house amenities listing accuracy and it's condition. the area is very nice, perfect for small children. We would recommend this property."

  • **PERFECT** Family Getaway!

"Be prepared for a lengthy review. I can’t say enough good things! This house was perfect for our family. Our teenager and 5 year old boy both loved it! The layout was spread out, so we never felt crowded. The house was clean and nicely decorated, and the beds were super comfy. There was good attention to detail (something as simple as labels on light switches!) to make the stay easy and intuitive for those not familiar with the house. We spent a lot of time outside. Lovely backyard! We kept commenting on how secluded it was, which seems to be a rarity on the densely settled island. Trees and lush vegetation border along the edge of the yard between the neighbor’s house -- you couldn’t even tell there was a house over there. We could catch a glimpse of the ocean from the backyard too, which was nice. There is a great little fire pit that we used several times during our stay, and a charcoal style BBQ, (which the meat-eaters in my family preferred over our gas grill at home). There was some road traffic, not too bad. We would help our son practice riding his bike every day, up and down the street. The walk to the beach was a little longer than 5 minutes; biking it was a breeze. But really, this location is very convenient to the town beach. The beach itself was perfect for our 5 year old. Clean, clear water! Small waves. The beach was clean, but people should understand it is a natural sandy beach, complete with seaweed, stones and shells. Quite nice. West Island is purely residential, and you will not find anything but houses, beaches and salt marsh on the island itself, which we like. Our family likes to Geocache, and there are several hidden right on the island! Within 15 minutes you are in New Bedford, which has an amazing historical district, it’s actually a National Park. We visited the Whaling Museum here, which is worth the trip! From New Bedford, we also took the ferry to Martha’s Vinyard for a day trip. The New Bedford historical district in and of itself would serve for a great day trip. With its old houses and narrow cobblestoned streets, it’s a great area for walking around, browsing the small shops and grabbing something to eat. Lastly, the icing on the cake was the owner, Laurie. Her communication was great! She was friendly and easy-going, and very attentive whenever we had a question. We took a vote on our last day, and it was unanimous – everyone agreed we would stay here again on our next beach vacation!"

"this was a cozy little cottage depicted very well in the photos. The small living room connects to the kitchen area and the ceilings are as high as the bedroom loft which allows for a spacious feel. Perfect for two people. The neighborhood is lined with beautifully landscaped properties and streets spotlessly clean. All of Cape Cod is nearby as well as Newport R.I. We found awesome food and drink at the Brew Fish restaurant and ate there every night. Wonderful experience for my first time traveling this way. Brad"

  • Picture-Perfect Rental - Ideal Family Vacation

"This rental is nothing short of amazing. Ideally located in a beautiful part of West Falmouth, the house is a quick walk to the West Falmouth Market where you can buy ANYTHING (meats for grilling, local produce, gourmet snacks, baked goods, wine/beer/liquor, and even diapers!), across the street from a delicious ice cream parlor & cute café, and 1.5 miles from the BEST beach on the Cape (Old Silver). I spent summers on Cape Cod when I was growing up, and wanted to share the magic with my children as well. Our family vacation at Linda & James’ home could not have been more perfect. We spent our days at the beach, enjoying ice cream & the carousel in Falmouth center, and exploring the area. At night, we checked out some great restaurants (thanks to the well-thought out suggestions provided by our gracious hosts), ate lots of ice cream, and enjoyed the local scenery on the charming front steps of the house. Proximity to the delights of Cape Cod aside, Linda and James provided the most perfect atmosphere and environment for our family. The house is incredibly spacious (there were three bedrooms we didn’t even use), clean, and well-kept. There were baby gates by the stairs (excellent if you have a 1.5 year old), extra beach towels, beach chairs, a cooler, and even a jogging stroller in the shed! The dvd collection is quite impressive (and helpful every once in awhile when the children are exhausted from the beach), the toys in the den were a huge hit, and my three year old was even more excited to be on vacation when she saw the Little Mermaid bedspread in one of the rooms upstairs. In essence, Linda & James catered to our every need, without even knowing it. Their thoughtfulness is evident in the way the keep their home and treat their renters. From the outside shower (which was great after the beach) to the central air to the breakfast nook to the delightful back deck, everything about this home is sheer perfection. Linda and James clearly know how what their guests need and want, and I have no problem saying, to date, that this trip was the absolute best vacation I have ever had. Linda was a joy to work with and very quick to respond to any questions that came up and I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone else looking for the quintessential Cape Code getaway."
