  • Great little house on Wall Pond!

"We just got back from a great week at Barry's place in Plymouth. The house was very clean and the yard well kept. We had access to the pond and Barry provided all sorts of outdoor gear to use as well. The house was able to accommodate two small families reasonably comfortably, however, the master bedroom was outfitted with a queen sized bed and not a king as described. This was not a big deal, but my husband is a big guy and it would have been a little more comfortable. Additionally the downstairs alcove bed is not a private bedroom as we expected; this is not necessarily clear in the listing, but just be aware that it is part of the common living room area. Aside from these small details the house is perfect and we had a great stay. Barry, the owner, was also super friendly and responsive. Would definitely recommend in the future."

  • charming cottage with water views

"My mother and I greatly enjoyed a relaxing week at the cottage, which is decorated charmingly with the owner's painting and seaside knickknacks. We spent a good amount of time just reading on the enclosed porch and the upstairs deck. When we went to the beach, we did find that that local beaches were a little shallow at low tide, and a beach half hour's drive away, Horseneck Beach, had much better swimming. If we could've brought bikes it would have been a lovely place to do some leisurely biking to town and to local beaches. All in all, a great little getaway."

  • Overall a Great Place to Stay

"Owners were very responsive: the microwave stopped functioning while we were there and one of the owners brought a new one the next day after confirming we didn't require it that night. There is a deck on the front of the house that overlooks the sound with no block in the view and a deck on the back of the house that overlooks the beach with no block in view. The staircases to both are sturdy with about 10 steps each. The front deck had the grill, which worked fine. The beach was covered in stones. They were smooth, but made flipflops of water shoes necessary. A 10-15 minute walk to where the river and ocean meet bring you to a much less rocky beach which was great for our 13 month old to play at. But with a little raking and you can make a tidy sand pit: the stones only seem to be about one layer deep before you find sand. The main level of the house is one long great room, the division of the room only made by the couches, which were dated and a worn but comfortable. There is a TV in the living room. Then there are 2 bedrooms, both with AC, with a bathroom inbetween. One room has a full sized bed with a closet full of childrens (and baby-appropriate) toys and board games and a tv. The other is 2 twins. The staircase upstairs is in the room with the twin beds. This wasn't too inconvenient for us. Upstairs is a large bathroom, 1 room with 2 twins, closet, dresser, a balcony that overlooks ocean, and 1 room with a king, large closet (fit 2 pack and plays), ac unit, dresser with tv, a balcony that overlooks the sound. All 3 rooms have skylights. The house was VERY liveable, but needs some TLC. The kitchen is quite the hodgepodge of tools, but everything we needed was there. The location was great. It was about a 45 minute drive into the city to the aquarium, 20 minutes to the grocery store, 25 minutes to a place with a target, walmart, etc. The mileage from point a to point b in the area doesn't reflect the travel time well: most of the roads are curvey and go through neighborhoods with the speed limit varying between 25 and 35 mph. We mostly spent our time at the house. We took 1 trip to the city and 1 trip to Plymoth for whale watching, which was prolific in whale sightings! There was 1 unseasonably hot day at 90 degrees, the day we arrived, but beyond that we had very little need of the ac units and enjoyed the ocean breese until our departure on June 5. 7 and a baby occupied the house very comfortably. We would be happy to return"

  • It doesn't get much better than this

"What can I say? What an awesome experience! I love historical homes and they have done an outstanding job rehabbing a 1648 home. They figured out a way to keep all the history while updating the kitchen and bathrooms so you had all the comforts of home. Charm does not begin to describe thIs place. We just loved all the nooks and crannies and all the different levels in the home. You can't help but be impressed with the historical significance of where you are living. And oh the stories those beams and those old wooden floors could tell!! Interestingly enough we really didn't do very much touristy things in Plymouth during our stay. This home was actually a tourist destination all by itself. And having the historic Grist Mill right next door and the river running through the backyard was a big plus for me If you haven't figured it out already we just loved the place. But don't go unless you love history. If you do love history this simply should not be missed."
