  • Sand Point Beach Family Vacation

"TJ met us at the rental, she lives right next door. We walked into the basement area, around the corner was a large bedroom with 1 king size bed, 2 twins and a large screen tv, kitchen table and chairs. The opposite direction was a beautiful tiled bathroom with shower, and laundry area. Up the stairs, which were quite steep, you walked into a large living room with a gorgeous view of Lake Huron. Three bedrooms were on the main floor, full size bathroom, two dining room tables, and a sun room. The kitchen was fully stocked, as well as the bathrooms. Several board games and card games for all ages, puzzles and books were available. We were an extended family with 4 adults and 4 children. There was plenty of room, when we had a few other family members come by, we still had plenty of room. When you walked out of the sun room onto a beautifully landscaped yard and patio, the view of the lake took your breath away. The walk down to the beach was not steep, but because of the breakerwall, there was about a foot or more drop until you reached the water. In the boathouse there were several beach chairs, floating devices for the lake, three kayaks and life jackets. The first couple of days the wind was strong and the air was cool, we were unable to fully enjoy the lake because of the waves. The closest grocery store is a Spartan Store in Caseville, their prices are a little high-but well stocked. We enjoyed ice cream at Shakers and Dairy Queen in Caseville. The grandchildren had a blast with the large slide, bumper boats, and putt putt golf in Caseville. Our favorite dinner was at Lefty's, the fish was good, but service was slow. Our pizza at the downtown restaurant was expensive, not worth the price. We took a full day and went canoeing near Grindstone City. At the end of the river, which lead to Lake Huron, we got out of the canoes and swam in the lake. I would highly recommend this trip. We also walked to the end of the pier in Grindstone City. There were several large boats docked. One day we were going to wash a few items and the washer was not working. We called TJ and she had a maintenance man out the same day. He was unable to fix it, but TJ told us she would have a new washer and dryer delivered the next day, which she did. We loved the cottage and the service TJ delivered was above great customer service. The only disappointment I had was the breakerwall at the beach."

  • Wonderful, Relaxing Getaway

"We rented the lakefront 3 bedroom cabin with the deck. Everything was perfect! Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, fantastic shower. Being off season, it was a quiet, relaxing few days. Beautifully landscaped yard with a large deck overlooking the lake. Sandy beach with volley ball net, and miles of beach to walk. Owners were very friendly. Can't wait to go back!"

  • great beach resort in the thumb

"Kreb's Cottages (apparently to be renamed Sunset Beach Cottages) are situated on a beautiful sand beach on Lake Huron, ideal for swimming and beach play. The large wood deck is a wonderful place to view the gorgeous sunsets and the waves from the well-landscaped yard. The cottages are comfortable and cozy, and the new owners are friendly, accommodating, and very responsive. I'd definitely stay here again when in the area; highly recommended. The nearby Farm Restaurant and Garfield's were good and attractive, but both need more and better vegetarian options. The Port Austin Farmer's market, while small, had some good finds (fresh young ginger in Michigan was a wow)."
