  • Nice cottage

"My family enjoyed our stay at the cottage and Higgins lake. Cottage is rustic, but clean, fully furnished, and location is great. The beach area is shallow and nice for kids; fire pit and free wood was awesome; large lot across the street. Plenty of things to do around the area...hiking, fishing, golfing, canoeing and tubing along the Au Sable , boat rentals,...or just read a book on the dock. Some nice restaurants in Roscommon village. There is a "small" street between the cottage and the lake...but it's just a typical subdivision street...not busy, with people walking their dogs and driving their golf carts...there is very light car traffic...it was not a problem for us. Would consider staying there again!"

  • Awesome!!

"We arrived for our weeks vacation to a clean and well kept home. This is our 2nd year renting a place on this lake but our first at the Robertson Retreat. There is 9 of us (from 75 to 3 months old). There was plenty of room in this home for all of us. We all enjoyed the lake and many of us got lots of use from the water board. We caught enough fish for a meal. The kitchen was equipped with everything needed and the coffee drinkers in the group loved the coffee pot. For the past 2 years we have said we were going to the pool but have so much fun down at the lake we never leave. Alpine chocolate downtown has the best chocolates. We enjoyed the Robertson Retreat so much we have already booked our stay for next summer. And last but not least not one single bug was found anywhere!!!"

  • Fabulously refreshing!

"We knew it had been a fantastic stay when we tried to highlight "just a few" of our memorable moments while staying at this beautiful cottage, and our list ended up taking up two pages (and even that was cut short by not wanting to waste more pages in the journal:) There were 4 adults and 4 teens, and every one of us had a blast. The kids loved sharing the big bedroom, where they each got their own bed. We adults found ourselves spending almost all of our indoor time on the sunporch, enjoying the sights and sounds of the lake. Of course, what we most enjoyed was the outdoor space. The large flat year allowed us to play many outdoor games, have campfires and just relax in the lawn chairs. The shallow sandy lake bottom lent itself well to water volleyball and the calm bay to kayaking and paddleboating. Everything was so peaceful since we were on the bay and the last house on a dead end road...very quiet and relaxing! The cottage was well located for our needs, as we were only about 5 minutes from Indian River, 20 minutes from Mackinaw City and within a few minutes of hooking into both the Indian and Cheboygan Rivers. We cruised out to Duncan Bay one day and the cruised the other direction another day to dock and eat at The Inn Between. Our kids tubed almost every day, and spent almost all of their spending money on ice cream, eating it twice every day (a mix of Drosts, Dairy Queen, Dairy Mart, Topinabee and The Sweet Shop). Knowing the safety of Indian River, from many past vacations, we also let our kids bike around to the shops and play sand volleyball at the state park while we enjoyed some adult time. Some days we did a lot, other days we did absolutely nothing..making both the adults and kids happy with the trip:) While selfishly I do not want to recommend this cottage to other because it might result in us not being able to "get" our week next summer, I HIGHLY suggest checking into Bev's Pigeon Bay cottage."

  • Summer fun close to Cheboygan River

"It was a very clean and well kept home close to the Cheboygan river. Very comfortable with lots of amenities. Owners were very pleasant and reacted quickly to problems. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting to do water sports. Close to numerous restaurants."
