  • The perfect relaxing get away

"What a beautiful log home, property & lake. We enjoyed sitting in the screened in porch with our two English Setters each evening. The surroundings are also beautiful and peaceful. Morning coffee sitting next to the gas fire box was a real treat. Can't wait for our return stay."

  • Awesome Holiday!

"We stayed at Acorn Cottage for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was so peaceful and I thought Mackinaw City would be slow due to the holiday time. The fact is that there were all kinds of holiday events going on in the little towns. Christmas Tree lighting, holiday parades. Just the quaint events that make you really enjoy the holiday spirit. We really had a tough time to decide if we wanted to go to the festivities as we loved just staying at the cottage and snuggling up to the fireplace. We had a wonderful dinner at Audie's in Mackinaw City. The fish was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. We look forward to visiting Acorn in the spring or summer to enjoy all of the events and natural wonders that this area has to offer. This is a great place to relax and enjoy nature!"

  • Beautiful Getaway!

"Gorgeous, clean property right on the Manistee. Everything needed for your stay is provided - except food, of course! I would recommend this property to anyone looking for canoeing, fishing, tubing or just a nice, peaceful escape from the everyday life. Thank you again for letting us celebrate our 11th annual girls weekend there."

  • Perfect Family House

"House- Perfect for a family vacation. You do have the feeling of being up North but are only 10 minutes away from downtown East Tawas. The house is very clean and well equipped with everything you need. Located right on Lake Huron on a very quiet street. The sun rising over the lake is breathtaking. We were able to enjoy a full moon. The Kelly's provide a telescope so you can enjoy the night sky. The Tall Ships came back up from Bay City, many sail boats and freighters. The Lighthouse/Tawas State park is 3 miles away. Restaurants/Shopping-So many to choose from. We enjoyed G's pizza and Mr. Jack'ss. We stayed away from downtown on Friday and Saturday(very busy). We went into town on Tuesday and Wednesday and were seated immediately. Many, many cute shops for shopping with unique and unusual gifts. If you're looking for t-shirts or sweatshirts with East Tawas on it, visit Ben Franklin first. Lakefront- The house has a two tiered deck that is right on lake that you can enjoy the view from. At this time, there is no safe access from the deck to the lake because of the lake level being high and the stairs were damaged over the winter. There are boulders to left that you can get down, but it was hard for my 7 and 9 year old and for me. There is lake access that is just 3 houses down with a small beach. It was not an inconvenience . Sandy, sandy bottom that we enjoyed. We were able to swim/walk and look at the houses from the lakeside. We did use the 2 beaches in town which are beautiful too. The kids were able to make new friends while playing at the beach . I would highly recommend this house for rental. But of course, there were a few things that we saw. The lakeside decks needed to be sanded and sealed. Was afraid of my children getting slivers and were constantly telling them to put on their shoes. There is no air conditioning and only 2 small fans were provided. We did have 2-90° days. A bigger fan is needed. You can strategically place the fans and work with the natural breezes from the lake to cool the house. And my last suggestion, binoculars . We found ourselves many times wanting to get a closer look at the freighters and the ships that were going by. Thank you for sharing your house."
