  • Great Spot! Awesome Location!

"We had a great time at this spot! My whole family came in from all over the USA and stayed here for 7 nights. It was everything we wanted and more! Great access to Lake Huron as well as being very close to many day trips around the area. I think we had a bonfire every single night. The only con to this location was that in the contract for renting the house it said we could bring fireworks and one of the neighbors complained one morning about scaring her dog. We called the local law enforcement and asked if it was ok for us to have them and they said yes as well as the home owner. This very same neighbor came onto the property to, yet again, complain when one of the younger girls was using snap pops by the fire. We all spent a bunch of money to light these off in celebration of a birthday and now we all don't know when the next time we will be together to do this again. She stalked the front of the house almost every day. Other than that, the house came with almost every amenity you could want!"

  • Great location, clean, fun yard!

"The Good Stuff: Hammond Bay Cottage was exactly as described in the rental listing. Rooms, floor, bedding were clean, kitchen and utensils were clean as well. Washer and Dryer were new and worked well. The back yard tiki bar was an fun way to have some drinks, lunch or dinner. There is plenty of tiki torches around the out side of the house to light up the dark night sky. The back yard is all sand so it feels like your still on the beach. Nice size fire pit and a ball tossing game were nice additions. The deck around the house is very nice and has lots of room to lounge in the deck chairs, plenty of chairs available as well with a great view of Lake Huron. There was a picnic table on the deck we never uncovered as we liked the tiki bar so much. There was a cart available to load your beach supplies up and wheel it down to the beach that a short walk away. Also provided is a beach umbrella. The beach is nice and sandy, witch can be rare for northern Lake Huron. I Paddled boarded 5 miles in Hammond Bay and could hardly find a rock! Several board games and playing cards are provided. The Not So Good Stuff: Tiki bar had lights but I couldn't find an extension cord to power them on, if you bring your own it needs to be 25 feet or longer. TV needs an upgrade, and also could use a better HD antenna. We didn't want to watch a ton of TV but the Olympics were on and we wanted to catch some events and it was difficult to watch them. Also we couldn't find Direct TV (but we did see the dish outside) The not so good stuff is very minor and would not change my over all view of recommending this place to friends or family"

  • Cozy "off-the-grid" getaway

"Our family of 5 plus 3 dogs enjoyed our stay. We had planned to stay for 3 nights, but unfortunately one of our kids was sick and we only were able to spend a day and a half there. However, we did enjoy the proximity to the lake and state park and took a few walks there with the kids and the dogs. The house itself was very well stocked with everything we could need. The beds were comfortable as were the couches. For a smaller house, it certainly felt big. The back yard looked like it would be great during the warmer months. Our only issue was the very minimal and inconsistent cell phone service. While we enjoyed getting off-line for a few days, we ultimately had to leave because there was not an easy way to communicate with our doctor back home and the nearest urgent care was at least 30 minutes away (at night). Monica was very understanding of our situation and we sincerely appreciate her hospitality. We hope to return again one day when all are healthy!"

  • Cute Cottage in a Great Location

"We had a great week in this cute cottage. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils for any type of cooking. The property owner always promptly returned our emails. The property had a lot of privacy from the neighboring homes. The yard had a two hammocks and a nice swing for relaxing. From the swing we enjoyed watch the views on the lake and the sunset. At the cottage we did a lot of kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming and fishing. Both of our boys caught a lot of small perch, bluegill and sunfish from the dock. We were surprised with all of the different outdoor activities in the surrounding area and how the cottage seemed to be close to everything. We went to three different Lake Huron beaches. We fished, hiked and biked at Thompson Harbor State Park. We hiked and swam at Rockport State Rec. Area. We visited both Presque Isle lighthouses. We also hiked and fished at the Herman Vogler Conservation Area. We would have loved to do more, but the week went by way too fast."
