  • Great cabin!

"I stayed at this property for a long weekend in August. The cabin is awesome! It's more updated looking than the pictures make it seem, it's very clean, and more roomy than I expected. There is a flat screen tv now instead of the older one in the pictures, however there is no cable or internet so be aware of that. I have Verizon and my service was terrible until I got into town. There is also no air conditioning, which to my surprise the cabin stayed pretty cool and comfortable, except for the bedroom at night. Even with the ceiling fan going and the fan I brought, it was still very hot. The property is beautiful and there's an amazing pond loaded with a variety of fish and turtles! I fed them....a lot :) The only issue I had was that the trail leading down to the river is very narrow and overgrown with tons of flowers and plants, so as your trying to swat the bugs away (yes, they were horrible) and carry your things down to the river, it can be a little challenging. I was also under the impression that your right on the river, as in being able to just walk right in with easy access, but it's not. There's a small, mowed out strip and the fire pit, but you're on like a hillside so it's a good 20 feet or so drop off down to the river and it didn't seem doable to climb down the side to get down to the water. I'm not a professional fisher, I just do it for fun, however I couldn't quite figure out how to try fishing that high up and with all the tall grass and branches coming off the slope so I didn't do any fishing from the property. All in all it's a great cabin and the land is beautiful, I'd definitely recommend. Last thing, the driveway is a shared driveway with a few other homes and it's narrow, so go slow around corners!"

  • Awesome Holiday!

"We stayed at Acorn Cottage for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was so peaceful and I thought Mackinaw City would be slow due to the holiday time. The fact is that there were all kinds of holiday events going on in the little towns. Christmas Tree lighting, holiday parades. Just the quaint events that make you really enjoy the holiday spirit. We really had a tough time to decide if we wanted to go to the festivities as we loved just staying at the cottage and snuggling up to the fireplace. We had a wonderful dinner at Audie's in Mackinaw City. The fish was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. We look forward to visiting Acorn in the spring or summer to enjoy all of the events and natural wonders that this area has to offer. This is a great place to relax and enjoy nature!"

  • Great location

"We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin is very clean, with a open floor plan. The cabin is located in a very private setting, which is a plus. It was only minutes away from all the major stores and restaurants. We did walk into the cabin to a very strong smell, which turned out to be Gas. Discovered that the pilot light on one set of the stove burners was not lit. I would recommend that the care taker, checks those before and after any every rental. You need to include instructions for the TV, never did figure out how to get any local channels. Everything was hooked up for the antenna, but wouldn't work. Other then that everything was Great.
