  • Family Vacation

"This is our 3rd time renting these cottages. There have been several updates done since the first time: new sheets, blankets, pot & pans, silverware (enough for everyone), new docks and new appliances in the lower cottage. Had a wonderful week, rented both cottages for our extended families. Swimming was great, the lake was warm. Did several kayak and canoes trips thru the different lakes. The older kids especially enjoyed the fishing, caught enough that we had fish for dinner one night. Had a campfire several nites even though the weather was quite warm. Had one rainy day but there was easily enough room at the main house table for several rounds of cards which kids and adults enjoyed. Fred and Sue were very accommodating and the rental process was easy."

  • Writer's Retreat in the Woods

"A few friends and I rented out the Red Spirit for a relaxing weekend of writing and it was wonderful. In fact, much progress was made by all and new friendships were forged. The garden is beautiful--full of poppies, irises and my personal favorite, peonies. There was ample room in the cabin and we had everything we needed to feel at home away from home. Karen is a gem and her dog, Zeppy, is a sweetheart. If you're looking for a quaint and relaxing place surrounded by nature, I would recommend The Red Spirit. Hoping to go back next year!"

  • Relaxing Vacation with our Large Family.

"Our large family, of up to 18 at times, enjoyed a week at the Hemlock Lake House. We came prepared with all our own linens as necessary for the rental. We used the washer and dryer multiple times every day and they worked great. The kitchen was stocked wonderfully for a large group with plenty of everything. There was a good variety of cooking pots large and small, large bowls, and plenty of utensils. Your pancake griddle was very useful and worked wonderfully. The house came with a nice supply of indoor and outdoor games and puzzles. We were also very excited by the supply of kayaks large and small and other boats that were at the house for our use. Your pier for the boats was just right and we enjoyed swimming in the water in front of the house and floating on our rafts. The lake was great with the time in the morning and evening for calmer waters. We spent a lot of time exploring the lake at all hours. I think my favorite was at 10 pm just staring up at the stars. The selection of life preservers was much more thorough then I expected with adult and youth jackets. There was also plenty of outdoor chairs on upper and lower deck areas. I would be happy to share your property info with any of my friends who are interested in renting your house. My husband and I, and our boys on their sleeping bags, enjoyed the master bedroom. The view was great and my husband had a very good pair of noise cancelling headphones that let him go to bed at 10:00 and not be bothered by the games and talk that were going on below. We used all the types of beds except for the pull out couch and they were good. Your house is beautiful and we enjoyed reading your families history that is framed by the door. What a blessed story."

  • Perfect Location For Exploring NW Michigan

"If you want to explore all the beauty of NW Michigan, the Beulah Chalet is the perfect home base. We have been visiting various locals in NW MI over the past 8 or so years. This chalet puts you right smack in the middle of where you want to be. As for the Chalet, we enjoyed time on the quite deck and family time around the campfire in the evenings. If you’ve not been north, the stars are amazing! One of my favorite things was sitting on the deck in evening and staring at the amazing night sky illuminated by the countless stars. And, yes you will see shooting stars for sure. The chalet has plenty of space for all and a great stocked kitchen. The town of Frankfort is on the opposite side of Crystal Lake, what a gem. We spent considerable time in and around Frankfort. It has a great craft brewery called StormCloud; check it out you; will not be disappointed. And Frankfort has the best beach we’ve yet to experience. Don’t forget to check out Crystal Lake. We rented a pontoon at the local marina to cruise around the lake. Other close and fun activities: - Sleeping Bear Dunes (20 minutes away). One of the coolest things you’ll ever experience. - Winery tours. Trust me one’s more beautiful than the next. - Fishing charter - Traverse City (25 minutes away) - Sun set at Betsey Light House (10 minutes away). Don’t miss at least one sun set there. Chris, the owner, is a gracious host. Thanks for sharing your slice of NW Michigan!"
