  • Very nice and easy, close access to where we wanted to go.

"The property was very clean and nice. Never did I see any mention of there not having a TV in the cabin. My husband spent most of the rainy weekend searching for a TV to watch golf, or the football games. I was shocked that there was not mention of not having one. Also the Wi-Fi was not owned by the property owner. It kept disconnecting my husband from his computer as he tried to answer his messages for his work. He is a physician and this was a problem. When we tried connecting, it sent us to the Village Market wi-fi. The window in the bedroom would not open so we could get some fresh air. The handle on the tub water shut off and on, felt like it could break at any moment. Scared me to death that we would be charged for breaking something and be charged for the repairs. I fully expect to receive my full deposit, and I am wondering how long it takes to get my money returned to me. I would recommend this rental to visitors to Elk Rapids. Owner just needs to make it very clear that there is not a TV in the place. And the internet service is not owned by the property owner or at least that is what we were told."

  • Beautiful home

"Of all the homes we have rented (probably 10 or so) this one had the most pictures and décor of any of them. It seemed very personal. The dining and living area are very full of furniture, really too much furniture for our family to get around. We enjoyed this property very much, staying a week with our four grown children, three spouses and two grandchildren. The pak 'n play was like a play pen, very roomy for our 5 1/2 month old grandson. The bedroom with the trundle bed downstairs could use a new bed but otherwise all the beds, even the sofa bed were comfortable. Plenty of sheets, pillows and blankets as well as towels. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, crock pot, coffee maker, mixer, food processor and more. The kitchen cabinets are very full, really too many glasses, so there is not much room for the items you bring. We loved the backyard seating, gas grill and fire pit. There are several TVs and movies, should you enjoy that, but bring your own games. If you bring bikes, be aware that you do not have a garage to store them in. We locked our seven bikes to the big tree in the front yard, not ideal. We enjoyed biking and our daughter enjoyed six and seven mile runs along N Bayshore Dr and E Harbor Dr - beautiful! We also enjoyed the track just a few blocks away at Elk Rapids Middle School. Don't miss Torch Lake, it's just a 20 minute drive to the public doc on Pub Dock Rd. At the dock, you'll find a grassy park with a playground for little ones and lots of shade to relax as well as pleasant bathrooms. We had great weather, so we visited twice during the week. We boated to Power Island one day and enjoyed some great hiking and swimming, well worth the trip. We walked down Dexter and Dam Rd to a little beach on the Bay to view a gorgeous sunset one evening. You'll also love Pearl's New Orleans Kitchen for dinner out, lots of variety and flavor! For an end of the week treat, we all walked to Cone Corral, great ice creams, shakes and flurries. Thank you, Kristi, for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. It was a week we will remember for many years to come!"

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

"Birch Lake is a beautiful place to get away, and the Maddex cottage a perfect place to stay. It's been years since we last vacationed here, so we rediscovered the charm of this neck of the woods in northern Michigan, especially Elk Rapids. God-willing, we'll be back again next year."

  • Perfect home for showing at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival

"I rented this home for me and my staff to stay at during our stay in Traverse City for the Horse Show. We love the location in quiet Elk Rapids. It has great restaurants and grocery shopping near by. Being only 10 minutes to the Horse Show with no traffic was a huge highlight. The kitchen was a good surprise!! We wished we had more time to spend there. But since we were working not vacationing we only were able to enjoy the patio and grilling/cooking a few times. The space was a bonus for my staff. With so many bed rooms and sleeping spaces it allowed staff expansion that I was expecting. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of the master bed room and master bathroom. Fantastic shower!!! I have already rebooked for a month next year!! Amy was so accommodating I hope to become a regular renter!!"
