  • Beautiful home on East Bay!

"Our family just enjoyed a week at this rental property on East Bay. The house, view, location, and accommodations couldn't have been better! There were 4 adults and 7 children in our party and there was room and activities for us all. We enjoyed cooking family dinners in the beautiful kitchen overlooking beautiful gardens and watching the sunset over East Bay. The water level on the bay is still higher than it has been in the past, so the beach isn't very wide, but it allows for the kids to enjoy the shallow water. The water is clean and so clear that you are able to see the bottom even from a good distance from the sore. There were toys at the home for the children to use. The home itself was very clean and comfortable. Down town Elk Rapids is close enough to walk or bike to. We highly recommend staying at this rental property if you are looking for a beautiful, comfortable home on the water and also not far from town."

  • Great lake home

"Our family of 12 spent last week at this great lake home on Elk Lake. Overall the experience was good. The views of Elk Lake are spectacular. The kitchen layout was superb with lots of supplies including dishes, pots and pans, flatware, spices, etc . The two upstairs bedrooms were great with both having direct access to full bathrooms. The basement has two bedrooms with one full bath. Not sure if the air conditioning unit was working correctly because in order to cool the upstairs adequately, it left the basement freezing cold. We really couldn't hang out down there because of this. Also, the downstairs bathroom had a leak coming from somewhere upstairs. We contacted the manager and thought somebody was supposed to come out, but nobody came. The property could use more than one garbage container. Elk Lake is a large, beautiful, quiet lake. We brought our boat up and enjoyed boat rides on Elk and also made the trek to Torch Lake which was even more beautiful but very busy. Unfortunately a few of us contracted swimmers itch from Elk Lake, so be prepared for that if you are planning on swimming. We recommend going to the Lake Michigan beach in Elk Rapids which is only 10 minutes away. We ate at Pearls restaurant which is very good. Try to call ahead. The house is on a pretty busy road, so it made us nervous to let the kids ride their bikes. We had to escort them across the road and then they were able to bike in a neighborhood. Overall we enjoyed our stay. There are always slight negatives to every place; there's no place like home, right? The area of Elk Rapids is one of the best in Michigan."

  • Great for all ages!

"Our family had a fantastic time at this historical home with 5 large bedrooms that made the 4 grandchildren, their parents and we grandparents very comfortable. The library was full of games for all ages and the garage had a pool table, table tennis and air hockey The weather was unusually hot for Northern Michigan and although there was no air conditioning there were multiple fans and everyone went in the lake across the street to cool off. We enjoyed the shopping and restaurants we could walk to in Elk Rapids and not so busy as some of the nearby tourist towns. The owner was great with any needs ( we couldn't find tools for the grill and they were provided within 1/2 hour of our request). Everyone is looking forward to another summer vacation at this beautiful spot."

  • Beautiful home

"Of all the homes we have rented (probably 10 or so) this one had the most pictures and décor of any of them. It seemed very personal. The dining and living area are very full of furniture, really too much furniture for our family to get around. We enjoyed this property very much, staying a week with our four grown children, three spouses and two grandchildren. The pak 'n play was like a play pen, very roomy for our 5 1/2 month old grandson. The bedroom with the trundle bed downstairs could use a new bed but otherwise all the beds, even the sofa bed were comfortable. Plenty of sheets, pillows and blankets as well as towels. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, crock pot, coffee maker, mixer, food processor and more. The kitchen cabinets are very full, really too many glasses, so there is not much room for the items you bring. We loved the backyard seating, gas grill and fire pit. There are several TVs and movies, should you enjoy that, but bring your own games. If you bring bikes, be aware that you do not have a garage to store them in. We locked our seven bikes to the big tree in the front yard, not ideal. We enjoyed biking and our daughter enjoyed six and seven mile runs along N Bayshore Dr and E Harbor Dr - beautiful! We also enjoyed the track just a few blocks away at Elk Rapids Middle School. Don't miss Torch Lake, it's just a 20 minute drive to the public doc on Pub Dock Rd. At the dock, you'll find a grassy park with a playground for little ones and lots of shade to relax as well as pleasant bathrooms. We had great weather, so we visited twice during the week. We boated to Power Island one day and enjoyed some great hiking and swimming, well worth the trip. We walked down Dexter and Dam Rd to a little beach on the Bay to view a gorgeous sunset one evening. You'll also love Pearl's New Orleans Kitchen for dinner out, lots of variety and flavor! For an end of the week treat, we all walked to Cone Corral, great ice creams, shakes and flurries. Thank you, Kristi, for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. It was a week we will remember for many years to come!"
