  • Fantastic property

"I can't say enough about this place. We were there the week before Memorial Day and it seemed like we were the only ones on the lake. I spent most of my time sitting out on the back deck, reading and listening to the water lap against the shoreline. The house was beautifully furnished and there were plenty of dishes, pots and pans, and silverware. About the only thing we couldn't find were crackers for the Maine lobsters we had delivered while we were there. Also loved that there weren't signs all over the house telling us what not to touch, which towels we weren't to use, or not to sit on the bed comforter, etc. I've been to places like that, and it hardly promotes rest and relaxation. There also wasn't a ton of instructions on what we needed to do before we left the cottage. I had time so I went ahead and washed the sheets and towels and turned on the dishwasher before we left, but it wasn't required. There are lots to do and cute towns nearby to explore. If you have the chance, you have to try the homemade mushroom soup at Platte River Inn. It was so good, we took a quart to go! This property was so fabulous we are already planning our return trip."

  • Charming, centrally located, comfortable, and immaculate...

"...describes Barbara's rental. We enjoyed our short visit and would love to stay all July next year, but unfortunately, others are onto this lovely place for two. It's just around the corner from everything and has a balcony with a great view of the bay and town...all we needed to feel at home and more! Barbara was just delightful. She was quick and kind in her responses and after meeting us and turning over the keys, making us feel welcome, offering us help if we needed anything, she disappeared. Perfect hostess, perfect place. We hope to meet again! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us."

  • Everything we needed

"We have stayed in vacation rentals in this area for many years and have had a variety of experiences so some of my comments may seem odd but they are based comparisons to other rentals. This is a very nice house in a very nice location. The house itself has 3 bedrooms, a sun porch with a cot, and a cozy front room with a comfy chair and game table so there is room to spread out and read, draw, or play games. The house is nicely furnished and homey with lots of unique local art/ craft decorations. It looks like it has been recently painted and everything was very clean. The king sized bed is very comfortable, the queen is very good, the futon is a high quality one, and the cot is OK for a small person. The linens are nice. Appliances are in working order and the tap water tastes fine to drink. The kitchen has everything we needed, we cooked 4 or 5 meals during our stay. Sound travels easily in the house, and the person sleeping in the down stairs bedroom can hear the kitchen noise. There is no AC; during our stay it was in the 80's and the house was comfortable with running of the ceiling fans and opening the windows. The neighborhood is beautiful, the walk to the beach is very pleasant. The beach is very nice and especially beautiful at sunset. You can walk on the beach a half a mile or so, but if you want to go for a long beach walk, drive to one of the many nearby beaches, like Peterson or Arcadia Dunes. We hardly drove anywhere during the 5 day stay, which was quite relaxing. The TV didn't seem to get local stations or a weather station so be prepared to use your phone, tablet, or computer for news and weather. the WiFi worked fine, though my kids thought it a bit slow; we did have several devices accessing it much of the time. There was lots of movies on Netflix if you are so inclined. There are lots of games and puzzles for evenings and rainy days. The house was easy to get into, with an electronic combination lock on the back door. There was always plenty of parking on the street. Everything went very smoothly during our stay. There was a lot of attention paid to making this a comfortable place to stay, the owners were very nice to work with, and everything we needed was easily found in logical places. I highly recommend this house."
