  • Beautiful cottage

"The Craftsman Cottage met all of our expectations and more. It was clean and well maintained, and the owner was prompt in providing assistance when needed. We were comfortable with the furnishings, and all fixtures and appliances are up to date. It is a great location to enjoy the state park and surrounding area!"

  • Beautiful weekend

"My wife, sister, brother-in-law and I stayed here for a long weekend hoping to catch the foliage changing colors. While we were just ahead of the peak color, the place was still absolutely beautiful. The house is well furnished with a large open area in the living room near the fire place. Large parties may not have enough seating with just a sectional and chair, but the space is great for playing games on the floor with kids. The dining room had a fantastic view of the lake, as did the upstairs master bedroom. Lots of space up there as well. The king size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, and I heard no complaints about the queen size bed downstairs in the room attached to the bathroom. None of us slept in the third bedroom, so I can't give you any info there, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad! The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of plates, silverware, knives, kitchen utensils, baking dishes, pots and pans, cookie sheets, plates, bowls, mugs, etc. The fridge had plenty of space, but know there is no dishwasher. You'll be doing dishes by hand should you choose to stay here, but believe me, the place is worth it. The fire pit was the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset over Hamlin Lake with a glass of whiskey. Our first night was rather wet, so we didn't stay outside, but our second night was beautiful once I managed to get a fire going. The wood was a bit wet, but we managed to get it going and watched the stars peek out through the clouds. The moon and its reflection off the lake provide quite a bit of light. There are a couple of apple trees on the property. The apples aren't treated, so it was hard to find ones without rot or bugs, but we eventually found enough to work with and made ourselves a pie. Delicious! Definitely visit downtown Ludington while you're there. It's a very charming place with lots of little shops, a photo gallery, coffee shops, bike rentals, and all kinds of things worth checking out. The Jamesport Brewing Company had a great selection of beers and above average food. We expected the typical pub fare, but this place had homecooked meals on the menu. They'll also let you see the three fermenter set up they have in the basement if you ask real nice. The newly remodeled Biercamp Market is also a great place to pick up any essentials you'll need while you're in town. It was very clean, had a great selection for being so small, and the people were very friendly. Check it out! You won't be disappointed!"

  • Great rental

"Our extended family consisting of 9 members, (6 adults & 3 children) rented this lovely vacation home. The home was clean and spacious. The property itself was lovely with great views especially at sunset. Plenty of bedrooms for us. Either you could eat in the house or there were picnic tables under the boat well area. Since the Olympics were on TV that week, we watched the games in the evening from the living room which seated the 9 of us very well. We were close to Ludington State Park Beach. We chose to rent the owner's pontoon boat which made our stay even better. Hamlin Lake is a large lake. You can boat to the dunes or Hamlin Beach, part of Ludington State Park. We were close to Silver Lake State Park where we rented jeeps to ride on the dunes. We hiked, swam, boated, and just relaxed. It was a great place to stay. The property itself has room in the boat well area to park another boat as well. I would recommend renting this facility especially for families. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Instead of 5 stars, I give it 10 stars!!"
