  • A little piece of joy

"This is a sweet cabin in a perfect location. The cabin was immaculate, had a great layout, and included everything we needed. Lovely outdoor fire pit overlooking the lake. Perfect for quiet, restful nights. The cabin is extremely well situated; it's near a ton of hikes, a bike path, close to Empire and Glen Arbor, and the dunes. We also enjoyed all the historic architecture in the area and all the local food! We went in early June, as the lilacs were blooming and the air was infused with their scent—so lovely!"

  • Pure Michigan up north vacation

"We just returned from our week at Beechmount. We loved it! It was very private and quiet. The deck was huge and a great place to read at the end of the day after going to the beach. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us to move around. The master bedroom was a good size and the bed was decent. Lots of dresser space. The upstairs is spacious and smells like cedar! The antiques were similar to some that I have and I felt that added to the ambiance. It felt like I was staying at a relative's place. The kitchen was adequate, not huge but had everything we needed to cook some meals. There was a Weber grill on the deck. The fire pit area was a few steps away from the house and was a large area which would fit a decent amount of people. It was nice to have a dog-friendly cottage, our dogs loved being able to walk around and sniff everything. Good area for walks and mountain biking. We had friends staying on Hamlin lake with boats, so they picked us up at the boat porch. We definitely drove to the boat porch, especially since we were carrying coolers, towels, etc... it was a 1-2 min drive from the house. Since the house was on a hill, it wasn't really convenient to walk there. But the porch was a good place to store floats, etc... Just FYI, most people don't swim at their waterfront locations because Hamlin lake is very sea weedy, especially at the edges/breakwalls. It is a great idea to have a boat or rent one (can be pricey), because you can get to a lot of locations on the lake and to the State Park. We spent a lot of time at the informal beach on the north side of the dunes. It was sandy-bottomed, so you could walk around. Lots of boats pulled up there or anchored and partied/tubed/walked dogs/walked on the dunes. Take in a few sunsets at Lake Michigan - so worth the view! The State Park was awesome! I wish we would have tubed down the river to Lake Michigan, it looked like fun! The town is really cool to walk around in, lots of great restaurants, cute shops. Our girls (22 and 15) definitely want to come back! By the way, they liked House of Flavors for ice cream vs. Kilwins... :-)"

  • Beautiful home

"Of all the homes we have rented (probably 10 or so) this one had the most pictures and décor of any of them. It seemed very personal. The dining and living area are very full of furniture, really too much furniture for our family to get around. We enjoyed this property very much, staying a week with our four grown children, three spouses and two grandchildren. The pak 'n play was like a play pen, very roomy for our 5 1/2 month old grandson. The bedroom with the trundle bed downstairs could use a new bed but otherwise all the beds, even the sofa bed were comfortable. Plenty of sheets, pillows and blankets as well as towels. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, crock pot, coffee maker, mixer, food processor and more. The kitchen cabinets are very full, really too many glasses, so there is not much room for the items you bring. We loved the backyard seating, gas grill and fire pit. There are several TVs and movies, should you enjoy that, but bring your own games. If you bring bikes, be aware that you do not have a garage to store them in. We locked our seven bikes to the big tree in the front yard, not ideal. We enjoyed biking and our daughter enjoyed six and seven mile runs along N Bayshore Dr and E Harbor Dr - beautiful! We also enjoyed the track just a few blocks away at Elk Rapids Middle School. Don't miss Torch Lake, it's just a 20 minute drive to the public doc on Pub Dock Rd. At the dock, you'll find a grassy park with a playground for little ones and lots of shade to relax as well as pleasant bathrooms. We had great weather, so we visited twice during the week. We boated to Power Island one day and enjoyed some great hiking and swimming, well worth the trip. We walked down Dexter and Dam Rd to a little beach on the Bay to view a gorgeous sunset one evening. You'll also love Pearl's New Orleans Kitchen for dinner out, lots of variety and flavor! For an end of the week treat, we all walked to Cone Corral, great ice creams, shakes and flurries. Thank you, Kristi, for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. It was a week we will remember for many years to come!"

  • Wonderful vacation!

"My friends and I had an amazing time staying at this wonderful home in Harbor Springs. The home was much larger than we had anticipated, well stocked with all the essentials and beyond, very clean and Chris was amazing to work with in making the reservation! The hot tub was a great bonus, rooms were all as they were described, extra sheets/ towels anything you can think of, kitchen was fully stocked with anything you could possibly need and everything worked great (showers/air/etc.). Definitely one of the best VRBO experiences I have had so far. Short walk to downtown Harbor Springs or short drive to wineries, Petoskey, Bay Harbor and Charlevoix- great location. We had 5 couples which worked great, would also be ideal for families or other large groups."
