  • Dreamy Views and an Architectural Delight

"I lived in NYC for decades and my French husband has traveled the for better or for worse, we are two pretty picky people when it comes to traveling. After staying here four nights, I can safely say, the Carriage House at White Fence gets two big thumbs up from both of us. The view of Traverse Bay out the living room window is nothing short of spectacular. Oh, the pink two the same...the changing light and colors are such good medicine for the soul. My husband is a swimmer and he loved taking a dip out front of the house in the crystal clear water. I read novels under the glorious shade trees---there are a few outdoor seating areas here to choose from. Inside the carriage house is a beautifully designed home. The owner is an architect---and obviously a good one. An abundance of light, views galore from the kitchen bar area, and the high bedroom ceiling is composed of stunning open beams. The chic decor is a mix of chocolate browns, white trim and lively splashes of red. There are also gallery quality framed photographs on the walls, taken by the owner. Wine, cheese, salad and other goodies were left for us as a surprise welcome and Kathy, the owner, went out of her way to provide detailed information on local restaurants and activities. She's a jewel and ditto for White Fence---a true gem. We'll be back and thanks!"

  • Private, quaint and a home away from home!

"We really enjoyed our stay at Leelanau cottage! It was close to the beach, restaurants, the grocery, the Dunes and shops. Bill was friendly and helpful with his recommendations. We had a great time!"

  • Location, location, location

"We stayed here for a long weekend. Even though the weather was more like late fall than early spring it did not deter us from enjoying the area. Just a short drive across the peninsula to Fishtown or a short drive down M-22 to Traverse City and just a few minutes drive to the village of Sutton's Bay you will stay busy, even if the weather does not allow you to boat or swim. The property is right on the water and has a staircase coming off the seawall into the water. We hope to come up when it is warmer so we can enjoy the water as well."

  • Beautiful, like-new cottage in prime location, family friendly

"Our family has rented cottages in this area for 30+ years and we were looking for a clean, up-to-date cottage to rent in Suttons Bay, and especially on Lee Point Road, since their beaches have very gradual entry and shallow water, also calm for the little ones. This cottage was a real find! It has the king size bed, A/C and heat, and other amenities we appreciated and were looking for. It was very clean, and looks like a brand-new cottage! The decorations are beautiful and not crowded and the rooms are spacious with lots of bathrooms and two tubs. They have kayaks to use, bikes to borrow and the kitchen is well-stocked with basics and lots of serving ware. The deck gave us welcome shade to sit and enjoy the water during the day or in the evening. There are so, so many windows that even when I was preparing dinner, I could look out and watch the kids playing and enjoy the beach view. The proximity to the water is unusual for Lee Point Road, too. Many of the cottages seem to be across the road from their beaches, so this was extra special to have a cottage right next to the water. The beach was small this year but the kids had just enough sand to play in. We liked the detailed instructions Dave gave us, so we knew what to expect and what was expected of us. They even had a lot of ideas, maps and brochures for things to do in the area. Wonderful vacation!"
