  • Nice family getaway

"This place was great for our family of 5. The drive into downtown Traverse City was only a 5 minute drive. We were able to time our trip to see the leaves on the trees change colors and the view from this place was amazing. The place was very clean and up do date. We would recommend this place to stay at and we will stay here again when we return to the Traverse City area."

  • Great for all ages!

"Our family had a fantastic time at this historical home with 5 large bedrooms that made the 4 grandchildren, their parents and we grandparents very comfortable. The library was full of games for all ages and the garage had a pool table, table tennis and air hockey The weather was unusually hot for Northern Michigan and although there was no air conditioning there were multiple fans and everyone went in the lake across the street to cool off. We enjoyed the shopping and restaurants we could walk to in Elk Rapids and not so busy as some of the nearby tourist towns. The owner was great with any needs ( we couldn't find tools for the grill and they were provided within 1/2 hour of our request). Everyone is looking forward to another summer vacation at this beautiful spot."

  • House for the entire family- lots of room!

"Our extended family- sisters, their children, our children and our grandchildren spent Labor Day weekend at Crystal Mountain in this house. Plenty of room for all to spread out. Plenty of beds and bedding options. Lots of privacy and room for quiet if you want it, as well as room for all to gather. A short walk to resort property (.25 to .5 mile). Between the dining area, the kitchen bar and the table on the deck, there is room for all to eat-but in the winter you may have to eat in shifts. They have thought of everything you might need. There is a gas station/convenience store about 1/2 mile down the road. Everything worked well and most things were as stated in description. However- the double bed bottoms of the bunks were past their use by date- deep well in the middle of each made these beds sleep one person only. And the bottom of the top bunk in the other bedroom was "shredding" badly. The top bunks were all very comfy. A few caveats: when the indoor temp is comfortable on the top and main levels, it is rather chilly downstairs. And there are many stairs as would be expected in a home with three living levels! (That was only a problem for gramma and grampa.) The owners were very pleasant to deal with and my security deposit was returned promptly."

  • Last minute stay for family funeral

"We booked at last minute week's stay the first week of November due to a death in the family. Three couples were traveling from the Dallas area and we'd planned to stay in separate hotel rooms; however, I took a chance on VRBO and found this gem on Lake Ann. Katherine, the owner, was super responsive - from getting right back to me to confirm our reservation, to resolving a trash pick-up snafu. Note that the house offers 3 very large bedrooms, each with a king-sized bed - which was perfect for 3 adult couples. No one had to bunk in twins or bunk beds. The house was very clean clean clean, and was exactly as pictured on the site. We very much enjoyed sitting at the dining table in the morning with our coffee, reminiscing and reconnecting as we looked out of the french doors on beautiful Lake Ann. It was so nice to be together as a family during a time of sadness. The only strange part was a lack of enough bath towels but this was not significant enough to impact my 5 star rating of the house and the experience. Thank you Katherine and Herb for a lovely stay."
