  • A quiet place in the woods.

"The Tree House is a perfect place to base a tour of the Leelanau Peninsula. The location is good for drives to Sleeping Bear, Glen Lake, Leelanau, Northport, Frankfort and so on, while coming back to a comfortable and well equipped cabin in the woods. Quiet and secluded. Be prepared for stairs, as it is a carriage house over a large garage. A great place for a couple with a dog. Norm is a good host."

  • Cottage Garden

"Just returned home a few days ago from a 4 night stay at the Cottage. We had a great time. The area surrounding the cottage is beautiful and the lake proved useful for catching our dinner, on our last night in Michigan. The kitchen was well stocked and we prepared several meals. The cottage had ample lighting, was clean and very comfortable. I appreciated the small cut flowers that were placed throughout the cottage. A/C only on the main level, but with the cool days & patio door in the sleeping area, it wasn't a problem. I dealt with Janine during the reservation process and for a couple questions, shortly after we arrived. She was wonderful - quick with responses and provided her phone number if we needed more immediate help. Location was wonderful -- a short drive to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Secluded, but not remote."

  • Perfect vacation!

"This was our second time staying at the cottage, and what an enjoyable, relaxing vacation. It is pleasantly comfortable, cozy and perfectly supplied with every need. It's set in a convenient location to surrounding towns. Matter of fact, we spent hours at the beach in nearby Leland, looking for the Leland blue stones. What fun! Also, waking up every morning to a great lake view just a few feet from the front door. Appreciated every communication with Rose, she was friendly, considerate and eager for our stay to be pleasing. Thank you so much. We plan to be back!"

  • I wanted to keep this property a secret!

"Our whole family (+ dog) just came back from a stay at Fiebing Lakes Retreat and "Wow!" is the easiest way to explain our time there. Most other places up north in MI sit on shared lakes and you have to deal with other people around you. Not so at Fiebing - the only people you deal with are the ones you allow through the gate at the property entrance! Can't speak highly enough just how great it was to have no one else around and be able to enjoy our own private place. The trails into the woods were great - the blue trail goes around the lake, was recently mowed, and level enough for trail running. The red trail branches off from the blue one and is a little less traveled, but still fine. We had 3 boats at our disposal: a canoe, a small rowboat, and a larger more stable boat. The electric motor fits on either boat and made our time on the lake even more enjoyable by being able to move around the lake and not have to paddle. The water was surprisingly clear and you could see the bottom very easily. The main lake was in front of the cabin and the one you will probably spend all your time on. It has a great sandy beach and that's where all the boats are located. The lake off to the side is smaller and not very easy to access. That said, it didn't stop us from carrying the small boat up and over the hill and through the marsh to put it in the other lake to explore. Speaking of our dog - he loved every minute up at this place. If you have a large dog, this place is like DisneyWorld. He went swimming multiple times a day, dug holes in the sandy beach, went for boat rides with us, & chased the family around the trails out back. Definitely a great break from city living! The cottage has been there for many decades, so expect the typical up-north cottage and you'll be fine. Although older, the cottage is kept very clean, which is always important to us. The view from the living room is priceless and there are plenty of windows throughout the place for airflow or views. The AC works just in case it gets too warm in the daytime. It's also well stocked: plenty of extra linens, towels, chairs for outside, a folding card table for the living room, etc. When leaving, we ran into the owners, who took the time to chat with us and tell us about the history of the place. Very nice people who put a ton of effort into maintaining this huge piece of property. Will definitely be coming back here next year!"
