  • Mother-Daughter weekend getaway

"Great get away for a weekend with my sister and mom. The cottage is adorable with every amenity needed for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed the beautiful scenic lake view from the cozy deck as well as the scenic drive through the country touring a few of the local wineries. I highly recommend this property and hope to visit again soon."

  • Peaceful and Perfect!

"We stayed at the "Cabin in the Woods" for 5 days and enjoyed every minute! The cabin is set way back from the road and is situated in a large clearing of trees. Mike and Joe's home is also on the property but is separated by several trees and a large beautiful garden still giving the cabin a lot of privacy. The "cabin" (although it feels more like a small home) had everything we needed. Mike and Joe were extremely hospitable - we had several welcome treats waiting for us when we arrived (including diapers!!). We had babies with us but I kept thinking about how amazing this property would be to come back to when they are a little older - a safe enclosed area to run around, a million lightning bugs and a nice short hike down to the river - heaven!"

  • Great House in a Beautiful Setting

"Great home in a beautiful setting. Our family (7 adults and 2 grandchildren) had a wonder time together in the Dunes! The house fit our needs perfectly. The two 3rd floor bedroom suites were used by my daughter and son-in-law; and my wife and me. The first floor bedrooms and dual vanity bathroom were perfect for my three sons and the grandkids. The second floor great room and kitchen provided many opportunities for us all to be together. My wife and daughter loved the kitchen and it was well supplied with at the utensils, pans, and dishes necessary for everything we made. The beach is a short <5 minute walk up the gravel road past a few houses (the neighbors were great) and down the dune face using two sets of stairs. My daughter was 7 months pregnant and managed to climb back up the stairs by taking it slow. If you don't like stairs, you will not want to go to the beach. The beach itself was private, clean and about 20 yards wide. We enjoyed body boarding, kayaking, and swimming. The water was cool (65-70 degrees). We only have a few minor negatives... The internet access was very slow (0.5MB/sec download). In today's world of 24-7 access this was frustrating. However, some people might find this freeing! When the owner/manager says the water in mineral rich, believe it. My wife's blond highlights were orange after two days. All of our skin had orange streaks and patches. We stopped doing laundry because some light colored clothes were stained. Recommend you bring laundry detergent, shampoo, and soap for that type of water. The tics were bad (not something the owner can control). After removing two tics in two days we conducted daily checks. Recommend you bring a tic removal tool. The house needs an outside area to spray off the beach sand on legs and feet before going into the house. We did find a faucet on the side of the house and hose in the storage room which worked for us. The owner/manager mentioned this is on his list of to-do projects. The owner/manager was great. In all we had a great visit. South Haven (15 minute drive) has everything you need. Be sure to go to Sherman's for ice cream! My sons and I enjoyed golfing at Paw Paw Lake Golf Club. We also spent an afternoon in St. Joseph. We would definitely consider staying at this house again. If you are looking for a nice weekend getaway or a longer vacation on Lake Michigan, this would be a great house. I would also consider it for a retreat. Maybe a church group."

  • The property was terrific, very pretty and clean. It was a great neighborhood.

"The only negative was that it took over two weeks for the refundable deposit to be returned. However, it did get returned and all was good. We are definitely using vacation rentals again!"
