  • Wonderful property!

"I visited this property with a group of friends for a relaxing weekend fishing trip. We all needed a getaway to recharge our batteries and spend some rare time together, as our careers and families are all growing by the day and free time is shrinking. This property was perfect and exactly what we were looking for! The house was extremely clean and very accessible. Erin, the owner, was very prompt and helpful in her responses to any question I had leading up to the trip. We had a great time using the provided Bicycles, Kayaks and fire pit. If you are traveling with kids, there is a swing set in the large backyard with plenty of room for them to run around. Fishing was good right from the yard and pier as well as out on the boat on the lake. We spent a lot of time on the elevated deck cooking out and enjoying the view of the peaceful inlet that connects to the (surprisingly) sizable Diamond Lake. It felt like we were thousands of miles from the commotion of the Chicagoland area but it was only about a two hour drive for us. The neighbors that we met were very nice and helpful. The inside of the house was well updated and the furniture looked pretty new in most cases. They had a flat screen TV that we were able to hook into to watch the Cubs playoff games, which was a nice plus for us. The pictures do not really do the place justice in terms of size. We never felt cramped and had room to spread out and do our own things when we wanted to. Overall, I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice getaway from the the everyday grind."

  • Happy Family Memories!!!

"What a wonderful trip this was for our family. The stay at "Mello Yellow" was a very pleasant experience! We appreciated Monique and Scott sharing their beautiful home with us! The home was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was a pleasure to prepare meals in such a well equipped kitchen. I spent many happy Summer's in the Sisters Lakes area as a child and highly recommend this home for a peaceful, but fun filled family vacation. The booklet of local activities provided to us by the Strongs was throughly researched and user friendly. There were six of us, my husband and our two adult sons, wife and girlfriend. The home was comfortable for all of us including a disabled member of our group. We look forward to spending time together at "Mello Yellow" some time in the future. Karen Frankfort, Illinois"

  • Relaxing!

"A beautiful cozy home nestled on a small quaint island. This lake home was perfect for our family of 5. We enjoyed the water fun of boating. The Marina is a quick trip and full of the friendliest natives. The water traffic was minimal and all 3 children learned to water ski and had fun tubing. We even enjoyed an earlier eveming kayak ride with the owners kayaks. The fishing was plentiful both from the boat and the dock. The biggest bass was caught sitting at end of the dock! The water is clear and clean. The home was well decorated, clean and stocked with everything we needed. We ate at home every meal. The sunsets from the deck are breathtaking as the A frame is located on the best side of the island. The neighbors are friendly and helpful. Karen and Kevin are attentive and informative. Thank you both for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!"

  • Nice house, great for families

"We had 6 adults and 5 children and the place was plenty sufficient. There is a lot to do whether it's Kayaking, campfires, jumping off the dock or taking the boat out on a fantastic, clean, spring fed lake.(considering you brought a boat, it's not included) Wendy was very attentive with us while we were staying there, and very responsive if we had any questions. Sitting out on the boat house patio at night during a full moon was pretty amazing. The house has an outdoor shower, which i actually found to be a very cool feature. We were able to come out of the lake, and get all the kids cleaned up before they even came into the house. I had never seen this before but will definitely be something I'll put into a lake property we purchase in the future. There could have been some more queen size beds instead all of the single beds, but i'm pulling hairs at this point. Overall, the house was nice, the owner was great to work with, and most importantly, the kids had a blast and we certainly made some memories we'll cherish forever. Thanks to the Mitchell's for letting our families enjoy their great lake house."
