  • Much better than pictures!

"This great house was a perfect choice for the New Year Celebration. We had a party of 8. Super clean and is much nicer and bigger than on the pictures. Bathrooms are huge! Bedrooms are great as well as living room and kitchen. They had everything we needed in the kitchen and all the utensils and playes/glasses.We also loved the hot tub and amazing backyard with lake view. Few things were unusual for me when booking this house: too much paperwork to sign since the house is operated by the management company they send me multiple documents with all the rules, terms and conditions that looked very strict in my opinion since this is a vacation house it should be a bit more laid back. I was afraid about all the noise rules and other restrictions they had. Also we were a bit disappointed with 10 am check out time and had to pay $50 extra to check out later. However in my experience all the cabins I rented in the past were more flexible and would let you check out later with no fees if it's not booked. And one more thing is that only two cars are permitted to be parked on the property and the other two cars (we had 4 couples with 4 cars) had to park about a mile away so it was a bit inconvenient to pick up guests and also every time someone needed to drive somewhere make few trips to pick up rest of the cars. Otherwise we will definitely be back since you can't beat the location and how nice the house is from inside!"

  • Perfect weekend getaway!

"I stayed at this location with my girlfriend and parents to celebrate life and my girlfriends 30th birthday. This weekend changed our lives for the best! The wood burning fireplaces, the speakers, and the hot tub were awesome! Also, the sky!!! I've been to the Dark Sky Park in Mackinaw. I've also been to Mexico with very little light pollution. Nothing compared to the sky we all experienced while staying at this location! I can only imagine how this place is during the summer! The kitchen had everything we needed as well. We didn't think to turn on the tv because we didn't need it."

  • Jewel in the Crown of Saugatuck

"My husband and I needed to get away from Chicago for a week vacation before fall set in. We fell in love with this place. The wrap-around front porch with colorful Adirondack-style rocking chairs (great for morning coffee with the birds and squirrels), the screened porch, which doubled as an outdoor living room, the parlor and living area, the tastefully appointed and decorated kitchen, the simple, charming bedrooms, decorated with handmade quilts, the fact that there was a laundry in the basement which we could use after a day at the beach -- all made us happy, content and peaceful. But the beauty and history of this house with the great selection of books about Oxbow Summer School of Art and Saugatuck history, and the wonderful framed photos and maps of Saugatuck, Oxbow and Douglas made the house feel drenched in memory and love. Beautiful paintings of Saugatuck land and beach-scapes are hung throughout the house, along with tapestries of Oxbow and Saugatuck buildings. Adding to the sense of history and place are old weathered signs hung thoughtfully throughout the ground area as well, one sign which states "Oval Beach", in another spot, inscribed above a doorway are the words on a plaque “Bunky’s Room.” The lawn around the building, the grape arbor in the backyard, the stately trees which surround the house, the library, the antique oriental rugs, the sense of family all conspire to bring beauty, charm, memories and love alive. And if all that beauty and charm is not enough, you are minutes walking distance from everything in town. A perfect get away, and a jewel of a place! We plan to return!"

  • Cute, cozy, romantic

"My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary, and loved it! The cottage was clean and cozy, and just a short walk to the romantic downtown Saugatuck. We would definitely recommend the Oriole for any couple looking for a quick and romantic getaway!"
