  • Great short vacation

"A friend and I went and stayed in the cabin from Monday-Wednesday, a very short trip out of the city. The location of the cabin couldn't be better, we walked to Warren Dunes and got lucky that it was warm enough for us to lay on the beach and even do some swimming. Word of advice, if you walk down the driveway and go left, when you dead end on that street and turn right, there is a lovely walk to the dunes that is MUCH shorter than going through the main entrance. I realized after the fact that Eileen mentioned that in one of her e-mails, but I sadly didn't see it! When we got inside the cabin the key was exactly where Eileen said it would be, and there was a super cute "welcome bowl" on the table that had lists of restaurants and attractions nearby. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked as well, had plenty of plates/glasses/spices/coffee, etc. The cabin is small but very comfortable, you have everything you need and it's laid out so it seems larger than it is. The outside area is GREAT. The hot tub was amazing, we used it a few times a day. We never even used the fire pit but it looked great too. The "outhouse" is actually full of wood and paper for kindling a fire. If you are going to build a fire, I would recommend doing it before the sun goes down because it gets really dark when the sun goes down, there isn't much light outside. The only reason I took one star off was because of the stairs. They are VERY steep. I have a size 7 foot and the stairs are so small and steep I had to go up and down sideways. My whole foot wouldn't fit on the stairs. If you are elderly, or have any issues that would make stairs difficult for you, I wouldn't recommend. But we did notice that the downstairs couch turned into a bed. We considered just sleeping on that but decided we would make it work. My other comment is that if you are going "off season", nearly everything is closed. We had a lot of trouble finding a place to eat on Monday night but settled on Olympus, which is a diner down the street. The food was actually great so no complaints, but when we asked the waitress if there was anything to do in the area after 7 pm she said "the whole state shuts down after Labor Day". And almost all of the restaurants are closed on Wednesday (no idea why) For us, it didn't matter at all. We were just looking for someplace to relax and be outside. But if you were looking for shopping and lots of dining options, be careful what time of year you go. We will be back!!"

  • Wonderful choice for a family gathering!

"We knew that this rental would have the bed space we would need to bring our far flung family together. But we were delighted at how spacious and lovely it really was. This is relatively new construction that is well built and well maintained. There were open areas that were so comfortable for gathering and visiting. The screened porch got a lot of use from first coffee in the morning into the night. We were lucky with weather and were able to have a bonfire almost every evening in the yard. Lots of wood was supplied. The bikes in the garage got used regularly. There was nothing that we wanted for. We did find the walk to the beach was too much for many family members, a combination of age and heat, but with purchase of a state park pass we used cars to shuttle people back and forth. If the opportunity arose we wouldn't hesitate to return!"

  • A Gem of Property

"My husband and two small children had the opportunity to stay at Rosemary's cottage a few weeks ago. We are so thankful that we had the chance! Here is my best recollection of the layout. When you walk in you will see a large room that encompasses the kitchen and family room. The kitchen is a chef's delight. Definitely make yourself acquainted with all the cabinet contents. There is everything you need for your stay to make and serve meals. The family room is cozy and there are tvs in it as well as the kitchen (despite them being just a few feet apart). Also on the main floor is a fabulous screened in porch where we spent countless hours. The main floor has three bedrooms, simple and comfortable with plenty of closet space. The bathroom on the main floor has a double sink and is beautiful as well. Off the family room is a set of stairs down to the finished basement. There are two futons plus two twin beds. There is another tv in the basement as well as a lot of beach books and board games. There is also another full kitchen (we grabbed a lot of the plastic dishes from here cuz of our small kids) and another fabulous bathroom with a walk in shower that was divine. The pool. oh the pool. I wish I could have stayed hours in it. Just like Rosemary says, the salt water is magical. You will be thinking about it every time you step into a chlorinated pool. I always felt better after I swam. There are plenty of towels for the pool as well as the bathrooms. The washer and dryer worked perfectly--which is huge when you are constantly washing towels. The grill was so great. We cant say enough good things about Falatics butcher shop just around the corner--we grilled all the time because it was so exquisite. Beach access. I would advise driving to cherry beach. It was pretty secluded and quiet (unless you want a ton of people) and very easy to get to. You will be surrounded by nature: there is a family of deer that we saw multiple times a day as well as wild turkeys everywhere. So fun! I am trying to think of one flaw of Rosemary's place. The best I can come up with is that it is missing a recycling bin outside for all the water bottles, pop cans, etc. Other than that it was such a perfect cottage for our stay and we sincerely hope we get the chance to return. Oh and by the way, it is absolutely true that Rosemary is so easy to reach at a moments notice if you have any questions. Thank you Rosemary!"

  • Idilic outdoor space with cozy house & guest house

"This is our third year at this property - and it won't be our last! We spend hours each day in the pool and around the spacious deck. We eat most of our meals outdoors under the beautiful pergola, and have at least one bonfire/s'mores night at the fire pit on the lower lawn. It's a summer outdoor paradise! The cozy, shabby chic house is well-maintained, adorably comfortable and offers a pleasant indoor respite. The owner is responsive and easy to deal with. Put this property high on your list of options... But please don't take our week!"
