  • Amazing Retreat!

"I am a writer and needed some time away to write and refresh. The Oakland North was the perfect place! First of all, the owner is very easy to work with and accommodating, so everything just fell into place. Second, the house was very clean, neat, and cozy. It was exactly what I needed. Plus, it's just steps from the beach, where my heart and mind feel restored. I highly recommend this house!"

  • Jewel in the Crown of Saugatuck

"My husband and I needed to get away from Chicago for a week vacation before fall set in. We fell in love with this place. The wrap-around front porch with colorful Adirondack-style rocking chairs (great for morning coffee with the birds and squirrels), the screened porch, which doubled as an outdoor living room, the parlor and living area, the tastefully appointed and decorated kitchen, the simple, charming bedrooms, decorated with handmade quilts, the fact that there was a laundry in the basement which we could use after a day at the beach -- all made us happy, content and peaceful. But the beauty and history of this house with the great selection of books about Oxbow Summer School of Art and Saugatuck history, and the wonderful framed photos and maps of Saugatuck, Oxbow and Douglas made the house feel drenched in memory and love. Beautiful paintings of Saugatuck land and beach-scapes are hung throughout the house, along with tapestries of Oxbow and Saugatuck buildings. Adding to the sense of history and place are old weathered signs hung thoughtfully throughout the ground area as well, one sign which states "Oval Beach", in another spot, inscribed above a doorway are the words on a plaque “Bunky’s Room.” The lawn around the building, the grape arbor in the backyard, the stately trees which surround the house, the library, the antique oriental rugs, the sense of family all conspire to bring beauty, charm, memories and love alive. And if all that beauty and charm is not enough, you are minutes walking distance from everything in town. A perfect get away, and a jewel of a place! We plan to return!"

  • Perfect

"The home has been beautifully restored. It is well equipped and clean. It is one block off main street and just a couple of blocks from the marina. Tina was very quick at responding to my emails even on a holiday weekend and the booking process was easy with good communication."
