  • Hidden gem in the woods by the Lake

"Great place to spend our anniversary weekend. The home is on top of a dune surrounded by woods. In the evening with the window open you can hear the waves on Lake Michigan. The home itself is very clean and nicely decorated with an eclectic beach house feel. Kris was communicative and professional. Highly recommended!"

  • Cozy, clean and comfortable.

"We spent a very nice long weekend at Union Pier, with East of Eden as our home base. The cottage is just the right size for two adults. With a single bathroom I would not recommend it for more than a family with very small children if at all. We had our 55# Lab with us and he was quite comfortable, although the nearest dog friendly beach was some drive away. The cottage is very clean, nicely updated and thoughtfully equipped for an extended stay. You can get peace and quiet prior to the end of May but we suspect after that it's going to be a lively place. The owners were especially nice and we felt as if they are loaning us their cottage for the weekend."

  • Fun lake house

"16 of our family members gathered at the lake house for a fun week on Stone Lake. The home is very well designed, decorated, and equipped with most everything you could possibly want/need. Although one family member brought his power boat, we also rented the boat package. The pontoon boat was used every day. We anchored it out in the lake, and used it as our floating swim dock. The young children spent hours wading along the shore, catching minnows and frogs. Because the game room is situated away from the sleeping areas, it was never a problem with noise, even though it was often used.late into the night. The kitchen was very well stocked, and the extra refrigerator in the game room was great to have, because we shopped at Costco on our way to the house and it had plenty of room for our groceries for the week. We ate dinner every evening out on the deck at the big table. Many of our family members hiked the trails that wandered thru the 47 acres, and we picked up kindling from the nearby woods for our gathering around the fire pit to roast marshmallows and tell stories.over the last 15 years, I have rented 20+ vacation properties from VRBO, and I have to say that Ted was the most attentive owner I have ever dealt with. He is genuinely commited to helping you have a wonderful time while staying in their home. We hope to return sometime in the next few years. Thanks, Ted and Brenda"

  • A relaxing retreat with all the trimmings!

"Our group of nine; aunts, uncles and cousins, found exactly what we were looking for in this spacious lake house. We had plenty of room to enjoy meals together, play board games, ping pong and pool. Even in December the walks on the Lake Michigan beach had the feel of being out in a wild natural setting. Coming back to the house for a dip in the hot tub was the perfect way to end the day. The house is an easy drive to the quaint downtown for shopping and dining. Well supplied grocery stores and even an asian/mexican grocery were right down the street. We had no problem cooking for our crowd on the gas range and making cookies in the convection oven. Even without the snow we had hoped for we found plenty to keep us busy. Though we could see how amazing it would be to visit in the warmer months when we saw the boats, bikes and outdoor fire pit available for our use. The house was very clean and there were no signs of insects or mold that sometimes are a hidden problem when going somewhere for the first time. We loved our long winter weekend at the Holland House! Thank you to our hosts for a great place to get away to."
