  • Everything perfect at the Great Escape!

"This was our second summer staying at the Great Escape and this year was just as perfect as last year. Nikki makes all the details a breeze, responds almost immediately every time. Even called us this year when the power went out for the whole town (was on again within an hour). It's a relaxing feeling just to drive up to the cottage and know we'll be settling in to our time there. Everything is spectacularly clean, and comfortably arranged. The beds and linens are very comfortable, and we appreciated the variety of pillows, too. Loft is perfect for my daughter, and my mom and I each had a comfy bedroom. The cottage gets a great cross-breeze even with just the doors open and screen doors latched, we were always very comfortable. Ceiling fan makes even the warmest days comfortable in the loft. The kitchen has everything we need and more. Bathroom also super clean, with great fluffy towels, and we love the shower. The big dining room table was filled throughout our visit with puzzles, card games, art projects with beach stones, and of course great meals. Plenty for my daughter to enjoy, especially with the many hours we spend beachcombing. It's a short drive to Pictured Rocks, and not too long down to Seney NWR. If you can drag yourself away from this cozy cottage, get the whitefish at the Dunes Saloon, cinnamon rolls and blueberry lemon doughnuts at the Breakwall Bakery, and make sure to stop at the Pickle Barrel and the Gitchee Gumee Museum to learn more about your beachcombing agates and other stones. No complaints about anything - we had a superior time! (Sorry for the bad pun). Can't wait to go back next year!"

  • Terry, Kim And Victoria

"Second year staying here and was just as wonderful as the first year. This is the best Cabin and secluded destination I could possibly imagine. We have so much fun. The cabin itself is absolutely gorgeous and cozy. The Hosts are wonderful and helpful and a delight to talk to. So much to within driving distance. And so relaxing to just sit back and enjoy the river and campfire. We defiantly plan to make this a family tradition. Our family couldn't imagine any other place to stay. I have to say this is my new favorite place."

  • AMAZING place, GREAT people, nostalgic!

"Cant say enough good about this place! You drive in and there are lots of older boats on the charter portion, a lot of history there, and they have oats in the water available to take you on one of many charter fishing trips. The resort side has several small cabins, one medium size and one very large, which we rented. we also viewed inside of older cabins, regardless of which one you stay in they are immaculate and very well equipped. The owners are fantastic people we enjoyed time at the fire with, it is clear they have a passion for the resort and the guests being happy. We will be back next summer, most likely t stay longer, a week was not enough! Thank you Kimar family!"

  • We loved it for the second year in a row!!

"Once again we had an amazing, relaxing, spacious week at the Top of the Rock. The view is incredible! So much so that we took a time lapse video from the top balcony of sunset and the sunrise, even caught two deer having breakfast in the field in front of the cabin. If you wake up right about sunrise you almost every morning will catch a few dear close to the cabin. One morning we saw an enormous buck, antlers still in velvet. In addition, we used the kayaks, rode bikes (we do recommend a seat pad as those roads are hard on the backside.) Hiked our hearts out and visited all the points of interest on the map. If you have a chance the hike to the lighthouse is worth it. The cabin was perfect and the check in/check out process easy. We appreciate the opportunity and hope to be back again next year! ~ the Esteve's"
