  • Peaceful Grace Cottage

"Had a great relaxing time at Grace Cottage. The layout was accurate and our family of 4 was very comfortable in the cottage. We used all the amenties (canoe, washer and dryer, charcoal grille) We enjoyed the peace and quiet. It was fun discovering the towns of Cedarville and Hessel (we enjoyed ice cream in both towns). We got to watch the 4th of July fireworks right from the boat dock. We took a day trip to Mackinaw Island (very crowded) and we were happy to come back to our little space. Our family was comfortable and our host made us feel at home and welcome. Our little snafu was that Our hosts had our home number and left messages there, which we got when we got home ;) The Les Cheneaux Islands are beautiful and we had wonderful weather for July. We will be coming back."

  • UP trip exceeded expectations!

"We sadly returned home, from an AMAZING stay here. This property was perfect for our large (23 folks) family! Each 'family' was able to spread out in their own house at night, but we all met up at the main house for meals and to hang out. The houses were all SO clean, amazingly maintained, and the kitchen set-up was perfect. Julie and Bob were so helpful. The kids loved all the grassy areas to play and ride bikes, the beach was a huge hit (and the water was comfortable for swimming!), and there were plenty of day-trip activities to do nearby. We look forward to returning!"

  • Great cabin, quiet in nature surrounded by trees and birds

"We had a great time in this cabin. We loved the porch around three sides of the house where you could always find the sun or shade at any time of the day. Enjoyed the quiet and the singing of the birds while reading and having my coffee. Supermarkets are 10 min away. The towns Houghton and Hancock give some fun things to do (15 - 20 min. drive), have some good local restaurants and coffee shops and are beautifully located along the big canal. A must stop is K.C. Bonkers Toys and Coffee in Hancock. This place is a blast with the best coffee in town and fun magical soda creations that children will get a kick out of, like dragon blood with Unicorn milk! Even my 14 year old liked it, so it is not too childish. Plus you can play some great family games while drinking your coffee. We had a great brunch at Suomi restaurant with a Finnish pancake, kind of custard thick with strawberry jam and cardamom toast, yum. It is not expensive. I highly recommend to go see the sunset at McClain State Park, a scenic drive from Hancock going East. We also toured the peninsula one day, Calumet is a neat town to visit, go to Connie's Kitchen to try a local Pasty. Then we took the scenic Brockway Mountain Drive, which was not scenic at all, until you get to the top with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. Driving down to Copper Harbor you have some more small scenic parking spots. Copper Harbor is very small, we were frankly not impressed but also tired of touring the whole day. It does seem to be a great place for some biking and hiking and possibly kayaking. The drive along the lake shore on the North -East was also very beautiful. There was plenty more to explore, but we did not have enough time, plus we also enjoyed staying at the cabin and breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the calm. They also have a sauna if you like that. The master bedroom is in the basement, it has a concrete floor with many rugs on it. The kids slept in a roomy loft with two queen beds on the bottom of the bunk beds which was a great place for them. I am sure you will have a good time here."
