  • Second stay in this winter wonderland!

"This was our second winter stay here and it's such a treat! Super cozy, warm, and close enough to be able to snow shoe to Lake Superior! Couldn't recommend a stay here more!"

  • Great cabin, quiet in nature surrounded by trees and birds

"We had a great time in this cabin. We loved the porch around three sides of the house where you could always find the sun or shade at any time of the day. Enjoyed the quiet and the singing of the birds while reading and having my coffee. Supermarkets are 10 min away. The towns Houghton and Hancock give some fun things to do (15 - 20 min. drive), have some good local restaurants and coffee shops and are beautifully located along the big canal. A must stop is K.C. Bonkers Toys and Coffee in Hancock. This place is a blast with the best coffee in town and fun magical soda creations that children will get a kick out of, like dragon blood with Unicorn milk! Even my 14 year old liked it, so it is not too childish. Plus you can play some great family games while drinking your coffee. We had a great brunch at Suomi restaurant with a Finnish pancake, kind of custard thick with strawberry jam and cardamom toast, yum. It is not expensive. I highly recommend to go see the sunset at McClain State Park, a scenic drive from Hancock going East. We also toured the peninsula one day, Calumet is a neat town to visit, go to Connie's Kitchen to try a local Pasty. Then we took the scenic Brockway Mountain Drive, which was not scenic at all, until you get to the top with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. Driving down to Copper Harbor you have some more small scenic parking spots. Copper Harbor is very small, we were frankly not impressed but also tired of touring the whole day. It does seem to be a great place for some biking and hiking and possibly kayaking. The drive along the lake shore on the North -East was also very beautiful. There was plenty more to explore, but we did not have enough time, plus we also enjoyed staying at the cabin and breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the calm. They also have a sauna if you like that. The master bedroom is in the basement, it has a concrete floor with many rugs on it. The kids slept in a roomy loft with two queen beds on the bottom of the bunk beds which was a great place for them. I am sure you will have a good time here."

  • Cozy, clean and quiet retreat in Houghton.

"We enjoyed our stay at this cute place in Houghton. The upstairs has been redone very nicely to make an open plan loft space. The queen bed was very comfortable. The stairs to the loft space are rather steep, however the owners have thoughtfully provided night lights to make nighttime trips to the bathroom (first floor) safer. While the living room furniture is basic, everything was very clean. The kitchen provides basic cookware, but could use a larger pot for items such as pasta. The owners have provided thoughtful supplies such as tea/coffee, first-aid supplies, sunscreen, bug spray and toothpaste/disposable brushes. Bath towels were plentiful, large and nice quality. Overall, it is a place we would return to if back in the area for a ski trip."
