  • Peaceful and Beautiful

"This cabin is cozy and secluded but still close enough to town. Although small, it has everything you'd need and plenty of room for a couple with a child like us. The cabana, sauna and beach were where we spent our time during the sunny days. One day it was in the 70's so we brought our son's pack n play down to the cabana and once he took a nap we took a sauna and jumped in the ice cold gichi-gami! We felt amazing and revitalized after! The cabin is very close to the Black Creek trail. The terrain was easy enough for our 19 month old to scale (however quite long we didn't complete the entire trail). We collected neat looking rocks along the beach right in front of the cabana/sauna. We found the entire property very inviting and it truly felt like home away from home. We will most definitely be back next year! Hopefully we can get it during the warmer summer months next time so that we can enjoy the beach more."

  • Great cabin, quiet in nature surrounded by trees and birds

"We had a great time in this cabin. We loved the porch around three sides of the house where you could always find the sun or shade at any time of the day. Enjoyed the quiet and the singing of the birds while reading and having my coffee. Supermarkets are 10 min away. The towns Houghton and Hancock give some fun things to do (15 - 20 min. drive), have some good local restaurants and coffee shops and are beautifully located along the big canal. A must stop is K.C. Bonkers Toys and Coffee in Hancock. This place is a blast with the best coffee in town and fun magical soda creations that children will get a kick out of, like dragon blood with Unicorn milk! Even my 14 year old liked it, so it is not too childish. Plus you can play some great family games while drinking your coffee. We had a great brunch at Suomi restaurant with a Finnish pancake, kind of custard thick with strawberry jam and cardamom toast, yum. It is not expensive. I highly recommend to go see the sunset at McClain State Park, a scenic drive from Hancock going East. We also toured the peninsula one day, Calumet is a neat town to visit, go to Connie's Kitchen to try a local Pasty. Then we took the scenic Brockway Mountain Drive, which was not scenic at all, until you get to the top with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. Driving down to Copper Harbor you have some more small scenic parking spots. Copper Harbor is very small, we were frankly not impressed but also tired of touring the whole day. It does seem to be a great place for some biking and hiking and possibly kayaking. The drive along the lake shore on the North -East was also very beautiful. There was plenty more to explore, but we did not have enough time, plus we also enjoyed staying at the cabin and breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the calm. They also have a sauna if you like that. The master bedroom is in the basement, it has a concrete floor with many rugs on it. The kids slept in a roomy loft with two queen beds on the bottom of the bunk beds which was a great place for them. I am sure you will have a good time here."

  • Cabin au Bord du Lac

"This is a very comfortable, cozy cabin with a fabulous view of Portage Lake. Morning sunrises are unbelievably beautiful. Houghton - Chassel trail runs directly behind the cabin and provides easy access to either location. Centrally located in Keweenaw Country, you can be in Copper Harbor in less than an hour or in Baraga or L'Anse in about 30 minutes. This is a great place if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing cabin. Sharon is a great hostess. Only shortcoming is lack of a TV, which was only an issue because of our visit coinciding with the opening weekend of NFL football. Suitable for no more than three people due to its small size."

  • Relaxing Lake House

"We stayed for several weeks and had a wonderful time. The great room is so bright and had a nice view of the lake and backyard. We enjoyed using the kitchen. Our toddler loved the apples from the apple tree and looking out for the bunnies that live on the property. We used the boat dock to go kayaking on the calm, beautiful lake. The house was clean and well supplied."
