  • Great cabin, quiet in nature surrounded by trees and birds

"We had a great time in this cabin. We loved the porch around three sides of the house where you could always find the sun or shade at any time of the day. Enjoyed the quiet and the singing of the birds while reading and having my coffee. Supermarkets are 10 min away. The towns Houghton and Hancock give some fun things to do (15 - 20 min. drive), have some good local restaurants and coffee shops and are beautifully located along the big canal. A must stop is K.C. Bonkers Toys and Coffee in Hancock. This place is a blast with the best coffee in town and fun magical soda creations that children will get a kick out of, like dragon blood with Unicorn milk! Even my 14 year old liked it, so it is not too childish. Plus you can play some great family games while drinking your coffee. We had a great brunch at Suomi restaurant with a Finnish pancake, kind of custard thick with strawberry jam and cardamom toast, yum. It is not expensive. I highly recommend to go see the sunset at McClain State Park, a scenic drive from Hancock going East. We also toured the peninsula one day, Calumet is a neat town to visit, go to Connie's Kitchen to try a local Pasty. Then we took the scenic Brockway Mountain Drive, which was not scenic at all, until you get to the top with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. Driving down to Copper Harbor you have some more small scenic parking spots. Copper Harbor is very small, we were frankly not impressed but also tired of touring the whole day. It does seem to be a great place for some biking and hiking and possibly kayaking. The drive along the lake shore on the North -East was also very beautiful. There was plenty more to explore, but we did not have enough time, plus we also enjoyed staying at the cabin and breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the calm. They also have a sauna if you like that. The master bedroom is in the basement, it has a concrete floor with many rugs on it. The kids slept in a roomy loft with two queen beds on the bottom of the bunk beds which was a great place for them. I am sure you will have a good time here."

  • Beautiful cedar home on shore of Huron Bay

"We stayed for a week at this lovely home on a family vacation. We have traveled extensively and rented many homes for our vacations. What stands out about this property to me was the quality of all the furnishing. The cedar inside and out is well maintained and gorgeous. The furniture is high quality and not dated. The home is very nicely decorated. We spent a great deal on time on the extensive deck both day and night. Patio furniture is better quality then I have in my own home. The hot tub was a huge hit as was the stone fireplace on the deck. The bedrooms where cozy and the beds good. Only one bathroom so be prepared. Lots of extras where included (firestarters, grill, washer and dryer, firewood, spices, etc.) This property is worth every penny. We had no complaints whatsoever with this home. Owners are very nice people and accommodating as we had some family issue that required rescheduling. They went above and beyond what was required of them to make our changes work. Everyone in my family (wife, 2 daughters and in laws) all agreed this was a very relaxing place to stay. Oh and the dock is awesome too. We spend a great deal of time just sitting, fishing and watching the eagles. Would love to return during walleye primetime."

  • Yet another perfect Lake Superior vacation

"We stayed the week of 8/30. Perfect weather, hot and sunny with one rain day to break things up. No flies this year. Lots of interesting places to visit in the area but the beach and sauna are great, as usual we stayed put the entire week. Can’t wait for next year! Kirstie and Fred Three Lakes, WI"

  • Peaceful Oasis

"Stayed in August and had a wonderful time! Watched the Persieds meteor shower over the lake with wonderful stargazing - there are not stars like this in the city! The house was clean and more than well-equipped, we cooked a number of nights and enjoyed eating out on the deck with the spectacular views. The kayaking was also wonderful, as promised. Most evenings, around sunset, the lake is like glass. Highly recommended... We will return!"
