  • A great getaway!

"We stayed at this cabin on Memorial Day weekend. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and comfortable. It was quiet, and the view of the river was beautiful. We were were 5 to 10 minutes from swimming, and 30 minutes from both Escanaba and Menominee. Definitely a good stay!"

  • Very Beautiful, Peaceful, Amazing Place!!

"We have come here for the past couple of years and love it everytime. We can get away from it all and relax and watch the sunsets. We always feel like we are coming home, the owners are very nice and accomodating, like family. You don't have to drive very far to get to Marquette where we spend most of our time. We love exploring the U.P. and this getaway is in the best location. Playing in the water, taking the canoe for a spin around the lake, playing catch with our dog Spot (who by the way loves coming here). Wish we could stay for alot longer than a week. You won't be disappointed booking this wonderful home."

  • Great cabin, quiet in nature surrounded by trees and birds

"We had a great time in this cabin. We loved the porch around three sides of the house where you could always find the sun or shade at any time of the day. Enjoyed the quiet and the singing of the birds while reading and having my coffee. Supermarkets are 10 min away. The towns Houghton and Hancock give some fun things to do (15 - 20 min. drive), have some good local restaurants and coffee shops and are beautifully located along the big canal. A must stop is K.C. Bonkers Toys and Coffee in Hancock. This place is a blast with the best coffee in town and fun magical soda creations that children will get a kick out of, like dragon blood with Unicorn milk! Even my 14 year old liked it, so it is not too childish. Plus you can play some great family games while drinking your coffee. We had a great brunch at Suomi restaurant with a Finnish pancake, kind of custard thick with strawberry jam and cardamom toast, yum. It is not expensive. I highly recommend to go see the sunset at McClain State Park, a scenic drive from Hancock going East. We also toured the peninsula one day, Calumet is a neat town to visit, go to Connie's Kitchen to try a local Pasty. Then we took the scenic Brockway Mountain Drive, which was not scenic at all, until you get to the top with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. Driving down to Copper Harbor you have some more small scenic parking spots. Copper Harbor is very small, we were frankly not impressed but also tired of touring the whole day. It does seem to be a great place for some biking and hiking and possibly kayaking. The drive along the lake shore on the North -East was also very beautiful. There was plenty more to explore, but we did not have enough time, plus we also enjoyed staying at the cabin and breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the calm. They also have a sauna if you like that. The master bedroom is in the basement, it has a concrete floor with many rugs on it. The kids slept in a roomy loft with two queen beds on the bottom of the bunk beds which was a great place for them. I am sure you will have a good time here."

  • A great UP getaway location

"We just returned from a week at this cottage, and had a wonderful time. The location is great, on a hidden little cove at the south end of 16 Mile lake. The lake is great if you have a canoe or kayak since it has lots of islands and inlets to explore and the north end of the lake is totally undeveloped. We saw several bald eagles and heard loons calling almost every day. The location is also close for visiting Munising, Pictured Rocks and many of the beautiful water falls in the area, and only about a 40 minute drive to the Seney Wildlife Refuge, which is definitely worth visiting. The cottage itself is very nice and well equipped. Our only complaint was that the full size bed in the second bedroom was not very comfortable. We traveled with another couple who used the master bedroom, so we were relegated to the smaller bed....rather hard and creaky. The smaller bedrooms could also use some ceiling fans. Probably not an issue most of the time, but we were there during a pretty warm week. We solved that by picking up a cheap fan at the hardware store in Munising. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return."
