  • Great cottage centrally located in the U.P.

"This was our first experience going through VRBO and we were very pleased. First, the positives. The owner's description of the property was very accurate and fair. It's a really cozy, woodsy cottage in a wonderful location. We chose the Curtis area so that we would be centrally located for all of the things we wanted to visit in the U.P. During our 5 day stay, we made it to Paradise/Tahquamenon Falls, Manistique/Kitch-iti-kipi, Sault St. Marie/Soo Locks, Munising/Pictures Rocks, and Marquette (jumping into Lake Superior from a 20 foot cliff at the Black Rocks in Presque Isle State Park - crazy fun). All of these places were between 1-2 hours from the cottage. The cottage is not on the lake, but on a canal leading to South Manistique Lake with wonderful lake views. The owners have taken a lot of care to provide a wonderful experience for guests. Fully stocked kitchen, stove, microwave, all utensils and cookery, etc. are there for your use. Bathrooms and bedrooms are nice with all linens provided. There is a beautiful wrap around deck from which you can sit and enjoy the lake view and the complete stillness of the surrounding woods. The entire cottage is beautifully done floor to ceiling in cedar, and quality of the workmanship is really impressive (there is a scrapbook detailing with photos the entire building process of the owners). The negatives are few, and are somewhat nit picky. First, when we got there the power was out. Apparently, it goes our frequently due to the high winds in the area. It came back on shortly, and there were no further occurrences. Second, there was a mild ant infestation in the kitchen. We notified the owners and they were to try and remedy the problem. Lastly, the ceiling fan in the master bedroom couldn't be used. Each night we tried, it would start out perfectly quiet, but make all kinds of noise after a couple of hours, regardless of what speed setting we used. All in all, we would certainly recommend the property, and would gladly give it a 4.5 rating if that was possible."

  • Great Location and perfect house

"This is the perfect house in the perfect location. Right on the water with an outstanding view. Clean and spacious. There are two restaurants/bars and a store right across the street. Cute shops in walking distance. We were on motorcycles and there was wonderful day riding in the area."

  • It was a wonderful home and place to stay.

"We loved the house. It was a beautiful home and we had a great vacation. The furnishings made it so easy to settle in and feel right at home. The price was also very reasonable and made it easy for us to enjoy all of the upper peninsula attractions."
