  • Nearly Perfect

"Our party arrived mid afternoon on a beautiful day and we found the accommodations very comfortable. We spent much of our time traveling. The young adults played basketball, read and had bon fires. The lake is peaceful, but don't assume you can wade or really swim, a boat/kayak would be ideal. The balusters on the deck are not (current) regulation as my year old grandson found out; at 30 lbs, his whole body nearly went thru so we had to keep him in his bounce seat. . Kitchen had everything but a chef. Virtually no bugs was a plus as we heard horror stories about the black flies. My only disappointment was the deck light; we Love to stargaze and watch satellites and that light made it impossible, even at the end of the dock. I assume it was for safety. We all...ages 1 yr to 84 found our stay delightful. Thanks Barb for being so available."

  • Awesome home away from home!

"We stayed here for two weeks this summer after spending the previous ten years or so staying a little further north near Hessel. A bunch of date conflicts kept us from renting out there this year, so we cast our net a little further out to find a place. St. Ignace is familiar to our family, so we decided to take a chance on a new place and picked this one, as it was in our price range and we liked the view from the photos. Boy, did we luck in to a great house! The owner is great to work with and super responsive. He wants to make sure you enjoy all that St. Ignace has to offer, and that's a lot! We enjoyed the Saturday night fireworks right from the back deck (twice!), the downtown area with shops, marina, amenities and other attractions is literally a couple blocks away and an easy walk. There are three parks nearby, one with a splash pad for the kids, plus play equipment and places to wade in the lake. All three ferry services to Mackinac Island are within walking distance along the boardwalk, or a short car or bike ride if you prefer. There is a Dollar General down along the boardwalk, and a full-service grocery store just a short ride up the hill behind the house (walkable for the adventurous, I suppose). The Trading Post a little north on Busuness 75 has a full-service butcher shop with fresh meats and some great prepared foods, too. We like to cook at home some days and eat out on days when we are out of the area. The kitchen in the house has a decent stock of cookware and utensils, making it easy to prepare meals at home. There is a gas grill outside and an electric stove in the kitchen. St. Ignace has a good number of restaurants in town. Some of our favorites include the Driftwood, Fred's Pub, Clyde's (which still has car-hop service!), BC Pizza, the Trading Post... And we still haven't tried some of the other places in town yet, but they look good! St. Ignace itself has events almost every day in the summer. In addition to the fireworks, there is live music on a few evenings, historical tours and events, movies in the park, daytime events at the library... Seriously, if you come here and are bored, you're doing it wrong! All that said, our favorite thing to do here has probably been to sit on the back deck and just watch the boats go by. Totally relaxing. Great house, great owner. Thank you for making our stay so relaxing!"

  • Comfortable, Plenty of space for multiple families

"I visited with my two sisters and their families (6 adults and 9 kids, ages 7 through 16) and there was plenty of room for everybody. The house is not what I'd call fancy, but it has everything you need for a relaxing, quiet week away from it all. The property is very large, and the view of Lake Michigan is amazing. We brought bikes, but the grounds are more suited for hiking (and there are so many other things to do, we never missed the bikes). The kids had a great time on the boats and playing in the cove (but bring water shoes because the rocks are hard to walk on in bare feet). We enjoyed volleyball tournaments, euchre games, and bonfires, and had a wonderful time reconnecting with our families. Paul and Kim were very helpful and responsive to any questions, and had great suggestions for area attractions."

  • Perfect for our needs

"We had a great stay at Campbell Cottage! We were in town for the kayak symposium and the location was perfect--right across the road from all of our activities, and short walk to the market too. The cottage was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. Washer and dryer came in very handy, as did the clothesline out back for our wet gear. There was a gas grill in the shed that we cooked dinner on one night. The shower pressure was really good (appreciated when needed to warm up after practicing rescues in the lake). Beds were comfy. Games and dvd's also were nice for our teenager who came along. I would definitely chose this property again!"
