  • Beautiful apartment, perfect location

"We had such a lovely stay at this apartment in downtown Grand Haven! The location is amazing. We chose an apartment over staying in a hotel because I wanted an extra bedroom for our toddler so that he could nap separately while we hung out, watched TV, etc. You cannot beat this location. It is in the heart of downtown, literally everything is just steps away! The beach was walkable, however we drove there daily. We loved also having the parking spot behind the apartment--everything was so convenient! The apartment was much larger than I pictured. The bedrooms were good sized and the living room was huge. The pictures are great but don't do it justice! We could hear the fountain music nightly but it was never bothersome and would not have been loud enough to wake our son up. We only had a few things that were considered "downsides": there were no paper towels in the apartment. I didn't see an alternatives like cloth napkins or dish towels either (though there were a few placemats). The back bedroom had bamboo blinds only and when the lights are on, everyone outside can see right in. They also didn't block out the morning light so we woke up pretty early every day. Lastly, there was a picture in the listing for a coffee maker with coffee next to it in a little basket, and when we arrived, I saw the coffee maker... And an empty basket! It wasn't a super big deal, but either me or my husband had to run downstairs and across the street to the little coffee shop every morning to grab coffee. On the upside, we got to try lots of different local coffees--Aldea was our favorite! The owner was very helpful. We had a slight issue with the people renting the other apartment next to ours having 2 large dogs that were barking a LOT when we first arrived. I texted the owner and she contacted them right away and we didn't have any further problems. I would definitely stay here again, and hopefully stay for longer next time! This was a great family getaway."

  • Great home away from home

"This stand alone home has a newly opened artsy store on the first level w/the rental on the 2nd & 3rd floor. This was nice because we didn't have to worry about noisy co-habitants or about us disrupting anyone below us. There is a city parking lot on one side of the house & a law office/massage studio on the other side - neither of which caused us any noise/traffic issues. We had 2 dedicated parking spots in the back of the house. The 2nd floor has a well appointed kitchen w/access to a large balcony w/a grill, a living room, a master bedroom w/an attached bathroom that contains a stacked washer and dryer, as well as another bedroom and separate bath. The third floor is 1 large open room with 3 mattresses placed directly on the floor. The living room, master bedroom and third floor each have a TV. Overall, the rental worked great for us. You cannot beat the location being one street over from the main downtown street. The beach is within walking distance, but you wouldn't want to walk if you had a lot to carry. We drove when we were spending the day there and parking was more than ample, but if you just want to catch the sunset or get ice cream, it's an easy 15 minute walk. Things to be aware of are as follows: The living room has only 1 sofa, so not ample seating if you want to congregate with a larger group. We improvised and used our beach chairs in the living room, so it was not a huge deal, but definitely not as comfortable as it could have been. The same seating issue applies to dining. The balcony has a 4 person dining table, but the only other seating for eating is the 2 bar stools at the kitchen counter. It was fine when we ate outside for a pizza dinner, but in the morning, everything is wet from the dew so we just had to stand at the counter to eat. Again, just a comfort issue, not a deal breaker. Also, the stairs leading up to the third floor are very narrow and steep as you would expect in an older home. My 7 year old daughter had no issues going up and down, but it was tougher for the adults in our group. The A/C worked great, however, we brought small fans to circulate the air in the large 3rd floor space. We did bring our own light blankets because although very nice, the comforters were just too heavy and hot. Only 1 light blanket was provided. There were only 6 towels for the 5 of us, so I did several loads of laundry to keep the towels fresh. Again, just some constructive feedback, but I would definitely stay again."

  • Grand Haven Summer Visit

"Our recent experience in Grand Haven, MI was spectacular! Almost by sheer chance we found a wonderful apartment in the center of downtown which was spacious, clean, quiet and just fantastic! The folks at Capstone (Julie and team) were over the top helpful! We were surprised and grateful for the welcoming gift bag! We would highly recommend this apartment to other Grand Haven visitors! Thanks Julie for helping us make great memories on the Lake Michigan shoreline! Hank & Antoinette"
