  • Great Place in Grand Haven

"This was our first time experience with a VRBO property and we picked a good one here in Grand Haven. Joe and Mercedes greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the Condo which was very nice and clean. It was very much like the pictures on the website. This place surely beat a hotel room environment for our 3 day stay! The location was great to many things, downtown was a nice 10 minute walk, 5 minute drive to Meijer/Walmart for groceries. The Grand Haven downtown and Riverfront was very nice. Shopping and the Eateries (Portobella's (recommended by Mercedes), K2 (pizza), Kelly's (Sushi) and Pronto Pups) were all excellent. And if you are in Grand Haven you have to do Morning Star restaurant for breakfast !!!! The only little complaint we would have is the Queen bed needed to be more comfortable (but it was tolerable) Thanks again Joe and Mercedes for a nice greeting and for a great place to stay !!!! If we are back in the area we will definitely book your place again"

  • Great home away from home

"This stand alone home has a newly opened artsy store on the first level w/the rental on the 2nd & 3rd floor. This was nice because we didn't have to worry about noisy co-habitants or about us disrupting anyone below us. There is a city parking lot on one side of the house & a law office/massage studio on the other side - neither of which caused us any noise/traffic issues. We had 2 dedicated parking spots in the back of the house. The 2nd floor has a well appointed kitchen w/access to a large balcony w/a grill, a living room, a master bedroom w/an attached bathroom that contains a stacked washer and dryer, as well as another bedroom and separate bath. The third floor is 1 large open room with 3 mattresses placed directly on the floor. The living room, master bedroom and third floor each have a TV. Overall, the rental worked great for us. You cannot beat the location being one street over from the main downtown street. The beach is within walking distance, but you wouldn't want to walk if you had a lot to carry. We drove when we were spending the day there and parking was more than ample, but if you just want to catch the sunset or get ice cream, it's an easy 15 minute walk. Things to be aware of are as follows: The living room has only 1 sofa, so not ample seating if you want to congregate with a larger group. We improvised and used our beach chairs in the living room, so it was not a huge deal, but definitely not as comfortable as it could have been. The same seating issue applies to dining. The balcony has a 4 person dining table, but the only other seating for eating is the 2 bar stools at the kitchen counter. It was fine when we ate outside for a pizza dinner, but in the morning, everything is wet from the dew so we just had to stand at the counter to eat. Again, just a comfort issue, not a deal breaker. Also, the stairs leading up to the third floor are very narrow and steep as you would expect in an older home. My 7 year old daughter had no issues going up and down, but it was tougher for the adults in our group. The A/C worked great, however, we brought small fans to circulate the air in the large 3rd floor space. We did bring our own light blankets because although very nice, the comforters were just too heavy and hot. Only 1 light blanket was provided. There were only 6 towels for the 5 of us, so I did several loads of laundry to keep the towels fresh. Again, just some constructive feedback, but I would definitely stay again."

  • Great vacation spot!

"We had been planning a family trip to western Michigan and looking for a property that was nice, had amenities, and was in a great location for an affordable price was a challenge, but this property delievered! We are grateful to have found it. It was clean and had a cute, beachy feel. Would be great for groups of friends/family, as the upstairs is sort of one space with multiple divided sleeping areas so there is privacy but you're all together. The ceiling was pretty low up there in spots so would be ideal for kids and a little tight if you're tall so something to keep in mind depending on your group. One separate master bedroom downstairs. Easy walk to downtown. Longer but doable walk to the beach - also a trolley available and bikes in the garage to use! Would definitely recommend and stay again. Grand haven was a fun, quaint town and a great time!"
