  • Cabin on South Long Lake

"We had a great week at the cabin. Plenty of room for our group. The view of the lake was great. The kids were in the water all week and they could fish off the dock too. Close enough to drive to Brainerd, Nisswa and Garrison if needed. Would definitely come back again."

  • Exactly what we needed!

"The property was easy to find, ready on arrival, and comfortable. We were very pleased to find everything we needed. Plenty of bed and bath linens, and a kitchen with every tool necessary to feed a family of six. We didn't expect elegance, but we were very happy to find everything necessary for us to be quite comfortable. Gorgeous surroundings! Most of the time we were in Minnesota we travelled all over the state, and we found this location to be the ideal central location whether we were headed to Bemidji, or to the Mall Of America for the day."

  • Excellent vacation

"Wonderful place to stay. Every possible need was met and we were able to spend the days watching two loons, two kingfishers, three kinds of woodpeckers, and a bald eagle all playing right off the dock. Little bluegills were so plentiful off the dock that my son kept snagging them! The water was clear, the sandy area was perfect for the kids, and at night we grilled right on the deck. We went on a canoe trip around the lake to see a beaver lodge, and enjoyed small diners in Brainerd and Garrison. The kids had fun at nearby Paul Bunyan Land. The property was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with necessities as described, and the owner was very thorough with instructions. We were sad to say goodbye. Maybe one day we'll be back. I can't imagine that I would ever want to stay somewhere else after this perfect getaway."

  • Nice place for a big group

"The house was great - nice and big. We were a group of 12 women in our 30's, meeting for a reunion over Labor Day. Everybody has moved across the country by now, so we decided to meet for a weekend up north. There was plenty of room in the kitchen area for everybody to hang out and socialize while we made food together. The place is also pretty close to lots to do - within 20 minutes of a variety of choices (breweries, riding stable, town). It was a cooler weekend, so we didn't all go swimming, but note that it's weedy close to the dock (just as you'd expect though, most MN lakes have conservation ordinances preventing people from making beaches). It was nice though - the water was refreshing. Plus, we didn't run out of hot water even though we had that many women! I suppose the one knock I've got about it is the rental process. Sherry is very sweet, and helpful with lots of ideas to do around town or on the lake, but there were clearly some trust issues there. She just kept asking what we were going to be doing the whole time, and insisted on coming by to check us in even after I told her once we got there that it was a straightforward place, it looked great, no questions. She ended up coming to the house on Saturday afternoon (well into our stay) and the check in process was her showing me the stuff that's already clearly written on the contract, check-in document, and notes around the house. It came across as nosy, and it was a disruption to our vacation, so I'm sour about that. I assume she just wants to make sure people are having fun, but she inserted herself too strongly into our private time. She asked why we were getting together, what we were celebrating, what we were planning on doing.. a bunch of times. I assume she wasn't satisfied by my answers. She kept asking, which is where that snoopy feeling came from. It was like she wanted every detail, like she was trying to approve our plans or something strange. To end on a good note though, we all had a great time. We stuck around the house for the most part, made our own food, and really got a chance to relax and have fun by the lake. The open format of the kitchen/dining/living area was really nice. One night we went over to Zorbaz, which is the perfect raucous townie bar/restaurant you could ask for. Food, lots of space, impressive selection of local and MN beer on tap. Overall we enjoyed ourselves on our stay!"
