  • Eagle Lake turquoise water retreat--we've already booked for 2018!

"WOW. Crystal Blue Retreat offered an amazing, relaxing week vacation to my family of 7 from Omaha, NE. We checked in 7/31 and stayed a wk. Scott was great about answering emails, getting us directions/lockbox code. Eagle Lake seems like a very quiet community, not a "party lake". Battle Lake (food/gas) is about 15 minutes away. The cabin is beautiful! The kitchen is perfect sized, with all the equipment (if you're a real coffee aficionado, I recommend perhaps bringing your own Mr. Coffee, as the Toastmaster was a bit glitchy for us--but we are coffee snobs!). The cupboards are stocked with everything you might need from home, all your dishes, pans, mixing bowls, etc... Some basics such as baking soda/tin foil were provided. There are kitchen handtowels/washcloths. Probably best of all--this cabin has a full sized washer and dryer (nicer than mine back home!). There were soap and dryer sheets, but we ended up buying our own, as we weren't sure if those were for our use. There is a bar top with stools, and a 6 person kitchen table. The French doors leading to the living room were great at night when some wanted to play games, and others wanted to read/watch a movie with some quiet. The master bedroom is large, with large double closets and an attached 3/4 bath. The second upstairs bedroom is small, with a full bed. If you're looking for a place to stay with mixed couples/singles, it was a little tricky figuring out sleeping arrangements. There are plenty of beds for sure, but not all of them are private. My husband and I snuggled into the full bed, my parents took the master with king. Downstairs is an open living room area with two twins, a bedroom with 2 queens and a twin, and another half-finished basement room with two more beds. Bonus-there's an extra smaller refrigerator in the basement--perfect for extra beverages. There is a freezer in the garage as well. The rooms were stocked with nightstands/dressers/Kleenex/lamps--everything you could think of! Bring towels. There is a picnic table, small charcoal grill, wooden swing, and plenty of Adirondack chairs, fire pit. Now for the best part--THE LAKE! We have stayed all over MN and this is the CLEANEST and CLEAREST water we've ever seen. I rarely swim outside of pools but I swam every day here. We saw 1 small fish--not a great fishing lake. The water off the dock is chest high and dive-able at the float--PERFECT depth. If you're a swimmer/"water snob" look no further!! BOOK NOW! :)"

  • Above our Expectations!

"My grown siblings and I stayed here for 4 nights. Even though it rained off and on, we also enjoyed sun and the beautiful, unbeatable beach and lake. The cleanest lake in Minn! We knew the area very well having grown up in Fergus Falls and spending summers on Otter Tail Lake, but we found a real treasure at W. Battle Lake. The cabin was nicer than we expected for a rental facility. Owners were very thoughtful - they even left us a wonderful bottle of wine! The kitchen was so well-appointed we could have lived there indefinitely. Furniture is as cozy and comfortable as home - maybe better. Everything was tastefully decorated and well-maintained. Beds were comfortable too. The Boys in our group loved the Bunkhouse - their own private "man cave" in the woods. We listened to owls and loons calling in the night. Wow! We all enjoyed the Boathouse - decorated so perfectly for a Minn. lake. We spent hours in the Boathouse in the cool evenings telling stories and reminiscing about our childhood, our parents (both now deceased) - laughing, tears for the memories and being grateful for our lives and the way our parents raised us. A quiet, safe but friendly neighborhood away from city noise and crowds. Our stay was the first of many to come. We treasured every moment and are very grateful we found this treasure. Hopefully to be back next year!"

  • A great stay at a fun resort

"Our family stayed here for a long weekend and we had such a fun time. We rented a boat from The Lodge one of the 3 days that we stayed, and had so much fun tubing, skiing and boating around beautiful Otter Tail Lake. The Lodge has a great sandy beach that is full of stuff to do; kayak, paddle board, peddle boats, floating docks. My daughter spent a lot of her time collecting shells. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, we had a great stay and we highly recommend The Lodge as a great vacation destination."
