  • The Whitefish Chain and The Wigrens...National Treasures

"This past July was my 50th year vacationing on the Whitefish Chain, around Crosslake, MN. The Wigrens claimed their cabin was "very cozy and comfortable." They were 100% correct. However, they left out much that needs praising: the location is perfect for enjoying the many lakes; they are friendly, helpful, generous people; the place is spacious, clean, and up to date. Barring something unforeseen in my life, I will for sure be staying there next year, and for as many years to come as I am able. Thank, Wigrens, for a fantastic 50th anniversary!!!"

  • Peaceful retreat

"We had the pleasure of spending five days at this beautiful home for a recent family vacation. We have four children age 16-24 and they all had a terrific time. The main house is immaculate and stocked with all the conveniences that make the stay here easy and stress free. There are beautiful views of the lake from every angle, a boat house with sauna which we enjoyed on several occasions, fishing gear and poles, two very fast jet skis that seat two each, a powerful pontoon boat, and a wake board boat that Ryan, the caretaker, would pilot for us all to enjoy wake/surf boarding. There is a large yard that accommodates yard games, as well as a large gas grill and outside fire pit. As a note, the caretaker lives on site, which was not an issue for us. He was available to drive the boat and made sure the jet skis were filled with gas. It made the stay so much easier and stress free! Our family agreed that this was one of the best family trips the we have had!"

  • Beautiful week on Ox Lake

"This is a lovely old lake home with some modern updates. It has a lovely calm feel to the house. Our group of 9 really enjoyed themselves. We loved eating on the deck and taking in the beautiful view. We were lucky that the weather was very moderate (low 80's) and that it cooled off nicely at night. The many ceiling fans kept the temperature very comfortable. On the not so lucky side, there was a huge hatch of mosquitos --the grocery store was sold out of bug spray! We managed pretty well and all brought home numerous bites. This is just Mother Nature and not anything that could be controlled. We also enjoyed using the kayaks, Stand up paddle board and canoes. Our kids are all adults but that doesn't mean they don't like extra water toys! The raft off shore was also enjoyed and utilized. A wonderful family week at the lake."

  • Beautiful property on a crystal clear lake

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in mid-August. The home accommodates multiple families with it's multiple levels and 5 bedrooms. It is decorated beautifully throughout. We found the elevator to the lake VERY useful. The beach was nice and the dock had room for our boat. We spent a lot of time on the lake tubing. While it's a relatively small lake we still found it very nice. The water is so clear and there is little traffic. The bugs were pretty awful while we were there but we did utilize the upper fire pit a couple of times. More than enough seating for everyone! The only drawback to this property (for me) was the lack of space for small children. I have a 10 month old and a 3 year old and I spent a lot of the time worrying about breakables (there are many) and corners. Also, the only spot carpeted for an early crawler was the basement so we had some challenges there (the basement is lovely but I didn't really want to spend my time in one room the entire trip). Certainly not a deal breaker by any means but just wanted to let others with very small children know if they are considering this location. I would suggest this property for adults and older children. It has every amenity you could need and is very comfortable. We will definitely consider this home again in the future."
