  • Relaxing with a View

"My friend and I spent a week in this cozy, comfortable cabin. After three years we had plenty to talk about. The best part was relaxing in the living room with hot cups of tea and looking out the window at Blackwell Lake and the beautifully landscaped yard. The teepee is its own topic of conversation. The kitchen is furnished more than adequately with cooking pots, dinnerware and cutlery, and gadgets. And if one prefers lunch or dinner out, Alexandria is a short ten minute drive or less away. The hot tub is clean and well maintained as is the cabin. Truly a place in which to unwind and forget the busyness of life. Glen and Barry while at the property offered some suggestions for things to do, did not intrude. Left with some great memories and the pleasing sensation of time well spent. Thank you Glen and Barry for sharing your cabin with my friend and me. I'd book this cabin again."

  • Great time, can't wait to go again next year.

"Brought my family (wife, kids 10 and 8) up and we had an amazing time. I was pleased to be able to launch my boat from right there on the property, and there was MORE than enough room to park my truck and trailer. The cabin was clean and quaint, you really got the sense that the details were being handled; the freezer and refrigerator while clearly not brand new, certainly looked like they had been cleaned and sanitized. We were pleased with the cleanliness throughout the cabin, but my wife is crazy about a clean kitchen and it was really reassuring to see her happy with the whole situation. Lake Vermillion is incredible. The waters and nature are amazing and clean. We enjoyed both quiet nights by the secluded fire pit, and also boating to the variety of bars and restaurants around the lake. The last night we were there I fell asleep out by the fire and woke to the calming crush of the waves on the lake. It was heaven on earth and I can't wait to go back."

  • Nicer than the pictures!

"We were very impressed with the Bon Aire. The layout was really nice with several cozy areas for reading, eating, watching movies, and enjoying the view of the lake. I wasn't sure what to expect for the interior finish quality (trimwork, walls, furniture, etc.) based on the pictures but we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The fireplace is great but it would be nice if there were some varied sizes of kindling provided. We enjoyed splitting some firewood down for that purpose but others may not want to do that (or have an axe with them). The only real issue that we had was getting the front-wheel-drive vehicles up the driveway onto the road, which was a challenge due to ice on the driveway. I would recommend a 4x4 or at least good snow tires or chains on a front-wheel-drive in the winter."

  • Perfect Getaway!

"We had a great time and the home met all of our needs! It is close to Tower and we were able to bike and tour the Soudan Mine. It was great to have access to the kayaks and canoe as we spent one morning kayaking, canoeing, and boated to one of the restaurants for lunch. We were able to have camp fires at night and the decks are great to enjoy coffee every morning with the sunrise. We spent time in Ely - less than 1/2 hr. away. There are ample beds for a large group! We would definitely recommend Bart's home on Lake Vermilion!"
