"We originally stayed in the Red Cabin for two months in 2015 after a major life change (sold our home and husband’s heart attack). We found the cabin exactly as described welcoming, clean, warm and totally enchanting. Everything you need is provided and if there is something not there, that you need, just ask, it will magically appear. We enjoyed our stay so much that we came back for the summer of 2016. Jill and Robert are wonderful landlords. Jill spoiled us with homemade delights. (Her caramel/nut covered grapes are wonderful). She even brought over warm monkey bread at 7:00 in the morning when she knew our grand-kids were spending the night. We spent the summer kayaking and canoeing using the boats provided. We floated on the lake on noodles watching the eagles soar over head. We listened to the loons and felt almost one with nature. The fishing is also great on Caribou Lake. You can catch them right off the pier. While at the red cabin we were totally relaxed, but it is also close to wonderful events like the tall ships festival and Canel Park, or near awesome restaurants like La’s and The Duluth Grill. We were also fortunate that it was only 20 minutes from our daughter and her family so we were also able to spend quality time with them. Our grandchildren, ages 7 and 5 wanted us to stay in the red cabin forever!! Thank you Jill and Robert for one of the besBEST summers we have ever had."

  • Good location.

"This is an older well maintained rental home in an established area. It has a basement, one mini van sized garage and two stories. The bathroom and the three bedrooms are upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped if you want to cook. No internet at this time. The neighborhood is quiet. We drove a long way primarily because I wanted to see the northern end of I-35. I also wanted to see a real winter. We are from a small town south of Dallas, Texas. There were more expensive places to stay but I believe if we had gone there we would have missed out on the most important factor: The host and hostess are extremely helpful in guiding tourists to the many attractions in the area. We were amazed by their sincerity in wanting us to have a memorable vacation. We didn't know where to go or what exactly to do once we arrived in Duluth. They asked what are interests were and it went very well from there. We saw things we had never seen before, did things we had never done before and at the end of the day after our adventures, we returned exhausted to a house which felt like home and rested peacefully in a quiet neighborhood away from the party scene. We've stayed in rental houses/cabins in Florida, Arkansas, New Mexico, Colorado, Mexico and Canada (in the summer). We've had fun and adventures in each location but this one of the best times we've ever had. We'd go again in a minute up there and if we did we would stay at the same place. For anyone reading this review who is a tourist coming from far away, remember the strong point is the sincere helpfulness of the host and hostess. They actively participate in outdoor activities, are quite knowledgeable and can direct you if you truly wish to enjoy all that Duluth has to offer. We recommend this place. Lou, Val and Colman."

  • Perfect house. Very accommodating hosts.

"Me and my family stayed in this lovely house in February. It is beautifully located on the beach and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We spent most of our days in Spirit Mountain and it was great coming "home" to the house after long days of skiing. We would love to come back. In fact, our youngest still keep asking when we're going to the "small house" again."
